The thing about non-binary people, is they are all binary.
It's most privileged existence. The woman I wrote about in my post below grew several children in her womb, yet she's a not like other girls NB. Just because you're a crunchy granola birkenstock-wearing free spirit doesn't mean you're not a woman. It's all outward appearances or I don't like some "girly" hobby. Bingo you're NB.
Soon, I have to see my sister, who has given birth several times, and received an MA from a Catholic Women's College in a traditionally pink collared career, who has declared herself non-binary. She has not told me yet, but I bet she will expect me to support her.
I have no idea what I will say, or how I can remain honest and not be savage. So help me if her hetero ass tells me she's 'queer' now.
Ask her to explain what that means, keep asking questions as if you're too dumb to understand. It will force her to think it through.
If that doesn't work be savage. I think we all need to be more savage.
Thank you, I appreciate your advice.
She's my sis and my sister, I'll be brutal I don't doubt. My only mitigation will be to not bring it up first. :)
Yes the playing dumb thing is great fun. I act like I honestly don't understand what people are saying when they claim to be the opposite sex from what they truly are. They get all flustered and aggravated trying to explain the impossible.
It’s like nb is the new hipster.
It makes me miss the days of the man bun
Haha! You’re right. I miss the days of being annoyed at guys and girls in oversized glasses talking ad nauseum about their vintage record collections while eating avo toast on cutting boards.
We should call them what they are, "Bored Westerners" and "Raging Narcissists in need of therapy".
The irony is they created a new binary. "non-binary" and "binary" (man and woman), lol.
All one can do is RoFL. I love that, the new binary of 'non-binary' vs 'binary'.
Makes me wonder if all this is due to a failure of learning critical thinking/logic. I remember posting somewhere out in the real world ages ago how ridiculous it was that a pure identity statement (logical identity, not the wuu kind) could be hateful, i.e. "transwomen are transwoman" per A=A. Naturally, I copped it. (that was before I stopped using the word "transwomen", btw)
Yes, it is so crazy and they will never see that they gave positive reinforcement for the binary sexes.
🙄
(Irish, I wondered where you were, good to see your post!).
I spit my tea out.
Edit to add because it fits well here:
I just saw "(non-binary, any pronouns are fine)" in a professional bio. I stared at the screen like 😐😐😐 for a full minute. She literally has blue hair. There's nothing about her that makes her sex remotely not apparent.
Genuinely believe something must've leaked into the world's water supply.
And here I was looking for the gay frogs.
It's the socially acceptable way to escape that pesky "woman" label
I both pity these women and I'm embarassed by them
The least professional thing you can put in a professional bio.
I would be tossing her resume.
It's like the Spanish fail "no binario/no binaria" 😂
They must change it to 'no binarix'
That is the only way to destroy colonialism 😂
Yup. When my US ass corrects them about putting an x instead of the o/a
I’ll just end that with “usted estas welcome-o” so they know I understand their gratitude
Hilarious (wipes apple cider off the computer screen, reminds self not to drink while reading).
The best way, for me, to interpret the nonbinary idea when women embrace it is that they think they are making a private contract with patriarchy: They wish not to be subjected to sexism and misogyny in all its many forms by stating that they are NOT women, but they also want all the benefits feminism as brought women and demand to be centered in the discussions about feminism.
So they demand that we use 'pregnant people' and not 'pregnant women.' They do not care about the female biological sex being erased and as far as women in general go, they point to them as where the misogynists and sexists should go.
I understand the urge. IF it ever becomes the case that 'woman' is nothing but an abstract feeling, I would probably identify as nonbinary (as my hobbies and job actually straddle the traditional scale of female and male activities), though identifying as a man would pay better. I'd need a Groucho Marx moustache for that, sadly.
It's a bunch of "not like other girls" bullshit and I'm not about it
They don’t even qualify as self awarewolves!
I tried to change it to self drag and it wouldn't let me! lololol.
Oh the irony! Lots of people try to sell men's shirts as 'unisex' even though they obviously fit men much better. Here, they probably understood that it was more inclusive to offer two options! Because there are two distinct body types!
Women's t-shirts often have lower necklines and always have much shorter sleeves to show off more skin. It's not just a matter of a difference in body shapes. It's purposeful, the intent being to sexualize the female body. Same thing with shorts. Men's are normal length, while the ones they sell for girls and women are abnormally short.
Maybe, but I find the women's shirts more comfortable. Otherwise, the ratio between chest and waist is wrong so I end up with extra cloth around my waist.
I've always worn men's, but I'm tall and my hips aren't very wide, so they probably fit me better anyway.
I'm a banana shape too, but I still find that the women's shirts fit better. To each their own.
I actually really like that color pattern on a shirt. Too bad I can’t wear it though.
Those (minus the black) are actually one of the old-timey women's suffrage tricolours (along with the purple, white and green, there was this one with yellow in place of green).
I know right? I used to love rainbow stripes as well. At least I've never had a yearning for baby pink and baby blue stripes.
This is fucking funny as hell
