"Magic happens in the laboratory."
Not biology. Of course not.
Magic.
Weird that people who hate JKR so much should still believe in magic.
Also this: "IVF is the most advanced and effective fertility treatment available today." These words mean nothing until you know how advanced and effective all the other forms of treatment are. This brochure is written to sell a product, not to truthfully inform.
This is just another version of the Handmaid's Tale. Men exploiting women's bodies to continue their genetics.
I love how the actual women are faceless beings.
And I am sure the "egg donor" is just giving it up for love...
Right the only time “women” is used is to refer to the TIMs. While actual women are called “surrogates and gestational carriers.”
The use of neutral pronouns because even the wokes noticed it would be too ridiculous to say "her sperm".
Surrogacy is such a mess. I don't care how "virtuous" they want surrogates to sound, it's exploitation and comodization of human beings, mom and child. Ugh
I think it's good if words for men start being erased. Then maybe normal men will start caring about this stuff instead of it only being a problem for women. It will never have the same impact for them because of the imbalance of patriarchy, but at least they might start to notice what's happening if they become 'sperm-squirters' or whatever.
However, as others have said, it is deeply depressing that even as the word "man" is erased in this flyer, in the context of this surrogacy arrangement (aka female exploitation) it's not enough to erase "woman" or "mother". No, the actual body and actual humanity of the mother is erased. The very process of pregnancy is denied. "the gestational carrier carries the pregnancy". No, she doesn't "carry the pregnancy". She is pregnant. Pregnancy isn't something she pops into her handbag and carries around with her. It's intrinsically, fundamentally, essentially hers. Part of her. Made by her.
This is a deeply regressive conceptualisation of pregnancy, going back to the earliest ideas when women were seen as mere vessels for the man's creation of the baby.
FFS it's all so offensive it quite literally makes me feel sick.
The way it's worded you might almost think they're talking about a machine or device. "Just plug in the gestational carrier, insert the sperm, and let it sit for around 9 months."
Disclaimer: Results may vary person to person. Gestational carrier is not liable for product damages.

The TIM has a face but both women involved in this are just disembodied floating eggs and wombs.
(They did nail the AGP smirk to a t tho)
