Rule Update: Non-vegan participation
Posted February 10, 2021 by the_radical_veggie [speaking as mod] in Vegan

I informed everyone in a previous debate thread, but I thought I'd do a formal announcement for users.

In response to feedback from users of the circle, we have decided to adopt a low-to-zero tolerance policy for carnist excuses and derailment. We've heard you all that you want a fully vegan space where you don't have to deal with that stuff.

The new rule on the sidebar is as follows:

No Promoting Carnism:

This circle is first and foremost for vegans and vegan discussion. We will not allow carnist rhetoric or justification for meat/dairy consumption, nor will we allow non-vegans to derail vegan discussions, whether these discussions focus on animals, health, environment, or other.

Non-vegans are welcome, but please keep omni content within the debate threads.

In an effort to engage both vegans and non-vegans, and to provide education to dispel common anti-vegan rhetoric, we've decided to have a weekly Debate Thread. Non-vegans are allowed to participate in these threads.

We will aim to choose differing topics each week, and we welcome further feedback or ideas for debate threads.

Thank you!
