I agreed with most of this, but not the way he slipped in a bit of misogyny here:
As this data source and others show, the only truly ‘woke’ group in the US seems to be upper-middle-class, college-educated, liberal white women.
There are lots of woke men, too. All those TRAs, many of them men, accede to this kind of woke garbage.
One comment here: too scared to call it out, or we have a new ruling elite that have quietly positioned themselves in positions of power who have their hands on the lever of what can and can't be said in the public square, and frequently censor even carefully worded, thoughtful pushback against the zeitgeist they subscribe to while allowing harassment mobs pushing their version of 'the good word' to target dissenters practically unchecked?
They may be a minority, but they hold a disproportionate amount of institutional power.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen the strange rise of white ‘black’ activists. That is, the phenomenon of upper-middle-class white women pretending to be black by taking excessive trips to the tanning salon, adopting absurd names like ‘Jess La Bombalera’ and taking up leading roles in black identitarian organisations.
But men appropriating womanhood is ok. (I know the author is not making that statement. It’s just my gripe)
This is lefty racism and misogyny. It’s bipartisan
A white straight male might be groused about for such mild heterodoxy, but he wouldn’t be out of a job
This Black women was given a job, but not a real opportunity
Black people have always had to deal with backlash for being 'too white' (same for Asians but maybe a little less policed). It's something that has also held some kids back from performing as well as they could in school, that some other Black children will accuse them of 'acting White'. Consider when Obama ran for his first term, he was not Black enough for some people because he is half. The odd thing is, there really are some Black people who are White supremacists, though they wouldn't call themselves that (Kanye comes to mind but I can never be sure if he really thinks half of what he says or just does stuff to get attention). Some individuals have internalised the racism they encounter every day as being representative of White people somehow actually being superior. I've known Black men who refuse to date Black women. The show Boondocks highlights this type of person with the Uncle Ruckus character: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GpW3qvf42Xs
The woman in the article is just being gaslighted and victim-blamed for the racism being perpetrated against her. She dared to have opinions that made others uncomfortable.
