Wasn't sure where to put this, so here it is.
This might be a tad niche and I need to give a little background, but I believe this is relevant for multiple reasons, including the fact that Crowder has been posted a bunch here and also the fact that we should all care that a very popular, mainstream figure is using the word WOMAN as an insult in 2021.
Background: Crowder is a rightoid/conservative youtuber with 5 million subscribers. His shtick is debating "liberals" and making them look like dummies. On his podcast, he went after fellow youtuber Ethan Klein of the H3 Podcast (3 million subscribers) for saying that we should trust scientists/the CDC on COVID-related topics (masks, vaccines, etc). Klein, who is more of a comedian/memer and not into politics, agreed to have a debate with Crowder about it. The debate was to take place yesterday, but after a few minutes of banter, Klein brought in pinch-hitter Sam Seder (1 million subscribers), a leftist intellectual-type politics podcaster who could argue Klein's points more effectively. Instead of having a debate, Crowder slung childish insults and ranted incoherently over everyone about how Seder doesn't have enough subscribers to merit debating. After about 10 minutes of that, Crowder said this to Seder and then promptly left:
"I've never met more of a woman."
It happens here if you're inclined to watch.
So I watched this (it was absurdly entertaining) and in that moment, my jaw just DROPPED. I can't believe that in 2021, anyone, let alone a popular public figure is using the plain old word "woman" as an insult. Not the p-word, not the v-word, not the b-word, not the c-word, just straight up WOMAN. Holy shit.
That's where we are!? "You're a woman" - so plain and out in the open, you're a woman, a second-class citizen, sub-human (only men get to be human), stupid, brainless, not worth my time, I spit in your direction and that's all you'll get from me, go away tiny person. That's the energy. I really feel using the word "woman" as an insult is on par with the worst racial slurs, it's that bad.
Thankfully, there were plenty in the comments pointing out how ridiculous and utterly low that statement was.
But my lord, it really bothered me. And the fact that this person is EVER posted here on Ovarit in a positive light makes my blood boil. I DO NOT CARE if Crowder's opinions on the T ever align with ours, this is just an utterly perfect chef's kiss example that conservatives and ESPECIALLY conservative men are not our friends and will never, ever, ever, ever, ever be allies to women. Ever, ever, ever. Can I say it a few more times!?
This is what they think of us. Get it in your head. They don't think of us as human. We're an INSULT. That's all we are. It utterly disgusts me, as it should you. Do not give these people more real estate, do not give them traffic, do not give them platforms. Ultimately, they don't see you as human so why should you promote anything they do?
