One of them asked if he was watching the Olympics and he said no. They were amazed because he’s a well-known sports nut. Then he told them about Laurel Hubbard and showed them the infamous photo of him on the podium with the two Samoan women. Then when they expressed horror at that he told them about the rapists in women’s prisons. He even showed them articles I’d shared with him.
When they expressed amazement that he, a man would be Interested in such, he told them that his wife was a radical feminist. Then did a decent job explaining what that was and told them about Andrea Dworkin.
These women were all in their 30s and are college-educated well-read women. It’s indicative of how the media has a total blackout on this topic that they hadn’t heard. The prison thing is just mind-boggling.
Frankly I was amazed that my husband went there. He is very introverted and generally doesn’t talk to anyone if he doesn’t have to. And while he’s always been supportive of my views I assumed he was only humoring me.
