Apparently many wokesters (I refuse to call them liberals because not all libs are that stupid) didn't like the ending because Barbie gets a vagina, therefore she is a real woman now. They are offended because "this movie is reducing womanhood to genitals, whereas being a woman is so much more!!!".
What much more what, exactly? We all know that women can be smart like men, it is not their "inside" that qualifies them women, but their outside, how they appear.
(Ohhhh but you meant wearing dresses and makeup and pink stuff! Just like that TIM actor did among the other barbies! How silly of me!)
By refusing to address that the core of womanhood is their body you are misplacing the very origin of misogyny.
Barbie is a smart, but once she gets in the real world she is belittled because she looks like a woman, in other words people guess that she has a vagina and all that jazz. The origin of sexual discrimination is sex, who would have thought that?
Apparently this leap of reasoning is too much difficult for these wokesters, who are offended. And I party behind their tears, ha!
The Barbie Movie had many issues but the ending is not one of them. Long live the queen!
This is the kind of inconsistency that makes me so mad and not want to see the movie.
Gerwig cast a man pretending to be a laydee as Doctor Barbie. (Of course, because only a man could BE a doctor!) When questioned about that she defaulted to “dolls don’t have genitals.”
Uh huh.
i was also not planning to see it because of TIM Doctor doll, but my mother wasn't taking my calls until I did. She's 80, and has never lead me astray, so I complied.
There is a conceit in the film that the dolls take on characteristics of the child playing with them, and I told myself it was a gay boy playing with that Barbie. I was able to enjoy the film. He isn't in very many scenes.
I saw the movie. Maybe they showed that he was Doctor Barbie? But they sure didn't show that very much. And he was there, just kind of in passing, very bit part.
I think she was more or less forced into including a TIM. But it was a minor enough part, not to ruin the whole show. They also had "Alan" in there, a male doll who was supposed to be Ken's friend but really, he's on the side of the Barbies. That was a way more obvious inclusion of a man.
And he was there, just kind of in passing, very bit part.
In passing
Not when he bellowed ’flat feet’
Bwahhahaha
^^sorry
The ending was a bit of a joke . . . . . there's been a bit of a joke for a long time, about how Barbie and Ken lacked genitalia, they were never anatomically correct dolls.
The entire movie didn't really take itself too seriously. I don't know, people can get worked up over if it they want to.
I disagree about the last one, the movie was a surrealist comedy but it was serious in delivering its messages. That's why some people disliked the ending: it was a little terfy.
It's just a play on the fact that dolls don't have genitals. It shouldn't say anything about twans rites or womanhood definition, but wokes gotta make everything about themselves
As always. "I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me"
Incredibly pathetic.
I’m finding it so funny that this movie is so inoffensive and yet there’s so many people taking issue with it.
I saw this movie on opening weekend and really enjoyed it. Some men are mad because of the feminist message and the men were portrayed in a negative way. And now apparently the woke are mad because Barbie is a woman basically
This just shows me these wokesters are pro men.
May be off topic but I just thought about were wokes pro women (like may be at first but why not nowadays)?
I think they used to be. But they’ve collectively decided the only women worth caring about are “women” with penises.
Can I just laugh here?
But also, I never complied to being part of a cult that doesn't believe in material reality and gets offended by the very notion of it. Fuck their public scolding of female. Politicians and the medical complex shouldn't be taking any part if this because it's a authoritarian RELIGION.
So, the movie catered to deluded males a lot by depicting one of them, and yet, and yet ... they still hate it for even just implying a basic fact of life: that real women have vaginas?
They are never content. Best to not even try to appease them.
Seriously that is how that film ends?? How do they even show her getting a vagina?
I haven't seen it, but if I'm right & it's the hero's journey, she chooses to stay in the real world & become a human woman because she's fundamentally transformed and can't go back to being a doll.
So... Magic.
She got the Pinocchio ending, basically.
Also, it is a reference to the ongoing joke that Mattel's dolls don't have genitals.
That's funny cause I told a friend the ending after I learnt it here today (she doesn't want to see it) and she said: so, like Pinocchio??
Gotta say, the trans barbie consistently was the worst dressed imo. Wtf were they thinking
And the one with the worst wig, too. I'm pretty sure that some of the actresses playing Barbies wore wigs or at least hairpieces, too, but if so, it wasn't obvious at all. With this guy, you could TELL he was wearing a wig. The horrible costumes could've been a subtle jab at how horribly TIMs often dress?
I haven't seen the movie but I read the synopsis, and I just thought the gynecologist visit at the end was a joking reference to "Barbie anatomy" to show that she had undergone a Pinocchio transformation and was a human now.
My take about all their fuss is that she could have got a penis and she didn't. She could have been a
faketrans woman but no, she becomes a real woman, hence she needs a gyno.
