Without getting too specific, I learned of a women's organization today that uses the word "Babe" in their name. As soon as I heard the name, I immediately suspected TQ shenanigans. I looked at their social media. Sure enough, the group heavily advertises that it's for "woman-identifying, non-binary, and all identities."
What tipped me off is that I have never once in my entire life heard another woman refer to herself or to another woman as "Babe." I've heard men call women "babes." I've heard women call men "babes." I've never heard it in any other context beyond a romantic or sexual one until now.
Am I the weirdo here? Is it normal to use the word "Babe" to refer to yourself or other women? Especially in a neutral, non-romantic context? I genuinely don't know and that's why I'm asking. Tell it to me straight, Ovarit.
EDIT: Thank you for the feedback! Lots of comments here about women using it as an affectionate term toward significant others, family, or acquaintances. Are they any anecdotes of women using the term "Babe" to refer to themselves? Genuinely curious.
By Asian do you mean Asian American or living in Asia, which is the biggest continent on Earth with many different cultures?
That would be up to users to decide and what would best suit their needs.
