Trump’s daughter-in-law was recently installed as co-chair of the RNC?
I’ll admit, I’m not the most politically-savvy person. But this seems like a scary thing? Can someone explain?
I asked my dad if that was a concerning degree of nepotism and he seemed very unbothered and said nepotism is everywhere in politics.
Previous chair Ronna McDaniel (I think??) was Mitt Romney's niece.
This is apparently normal.
Although McDaniel apparently declined to give Trump control of the entire party’s budget and that’s why she was removed. With his daughter-in-law in charge Trump got access to the funds for his defense.
Yeah, she's directing all the money that would usually go to senatorial races and stuff to Trump's legal bills. Down ticket races are likely to be a massacre this year.
It is a concerning degree of nepotism and not just when the Trump family does it.
Lara Trump is there to ensure all the money goes to Trump’s campaign. Part of the capture or capitulation of the Republican Party, remade as the Party of Trump.
Yup. And because of this there has been talk of the Trumps bankrupting the Republican party. Good riddance.
Well, Trump has been a bankrupt many times on his own behalf, why not bankrupt the Republican Party? Makes a certain amount of awful sense.
