Advicedysmenorrhea in teenage daughter
Posted September 2, 2024 by squelchito in Women

My 16 year old daughter has very painful periods, something I have little personal experience with. We've been trying heat, NSAIDs, supplements/teas, etc. and she says it's not helping. She wants to go on BC pills and says a lot of girls at her school are prescribed BC for painful periods, some even have BC implants, this is routine, etc. But I never took BC myself and I'm leery of giving her synthetic hormones (then again I take synthetic estrogen for menopause so maybe I'm overthinking this). Another challenge is I'm having difficulty finding a new gyno for her. Does anyone have experience with/ thoughts on hormonal treatment of dysmenorrhea?

This is a wonderful idea, especially since the "AskReddit" posts about women, and nearly every "AskWomen" post on Reddit, is full of gross dudes basically just asking how to get a woman. I imagine a circle like that here would be filled with really interesting questions and women actually trying to help other women, so yes, please!

Every day on the front page is some variant of, "Women, what do you think about this in bed?", "Women, what's your weirdest fetish?", "Women, what can a guy do that'll seal the deal after a date?". It's all so skeevy and half the comments are obvious men posing as women in some sort of dual fantasy lol

This definitely sounds promising, thank you for suggesting it!

I love this! AskReddit is a wonderful concept, but unfortunately it's full of typical redditors

That would be fun. I really miss Reddit's AskWomen. Not the people, but the concept.
