RaveUpdate: CBD for sleep

I posted here looking for advice on using CBD for sleep and learned a lot from you all. I see it’s been a month and I’m here to report back.

TL;DR:

The good news: I’ve been sleeping beautifully.

The bad news: I had to use more THC than I wanted.

My friend gave me some THC gummies to start. I was trying not to use THC, but the CBD capsules I got weren’t enough on their own. I got a medical card to keep costs down. I told the prescriber about my epic insomnia. She said THC was for sleep and CBD was for pain. I didn’t want to believe her but I suspect she was right.

The formula I ended up with is: one 10 mg THC gummy at bedtime, then a capsule of 10mg CBD + 2 mg THC when I first wake up a couple of hours later. That works to get me to sleep and keep me asleep for 7-8 hours at a stretch. I take nothing on Friday and Saturday nights to keep my tolerance down.

The friend who initially helped me figure this out said she had sleep-trained herself using cannabis, and I believe her. I’ve been sleeping all the way through some nights, which just never happened before.

I had an appointment with my doctor and I did tell her about my new regimen. I wasn’t crazy about her writing THC on my chart even if we are in a permissive state but I wanted to get her advice and she ok’d me.
