CatteningFound a black cat on Friday the 13th with one golden eye
Posted September 15, 2024 by [Deleted] in Women

He was stuck in a window well at neighbors' house. Sweetest, friendliest cat. Very mellow but eats anything not pinned down even though he is a little on the chunky side. We put up posters and posted to the SPCA and craigslist. Still, no one has called about him. He doesn't have any problem with other cats (but my little girl is very hesitant to make friends). I am guessing he is male. It has been 2 weeks since the last of my cats older bff cats died. It is all very emotionally complicated--and a wee bit superstitious? lol

Tbc, he has two eyes, they are just slightly different colors. Very odd looking.

Update: His name is Salem, and I have to give him back to his irresponsible foster parent. I am very sad now. It is a mess. This cat goes all over. This is not the first time someone has had to take him to the SPCA to see who is owner is. She moved where she can't have him and left him with a flake.

He's your familiar Take him home and worship him

That's a witch's familiar if I ever heard of one lol

Embrace your familiar after you’ve ruled out microchips!

I got one too on that date (tarantula) and I can assure you that it’s extremely auspicious. 😉

❤︎❤︎

I guess the next step would be to take him to a vet's, for a health check and to see if he's chipped (if they microchip cats in the same way as dogs—IDK if this is a thing)

Sounds like a good-luck portent though

The cat distribution system strikes again!

LipsySeptember 15, 2024

Feline ends with "line" because it's a supply chain!

I was distributed a pure bred Bengal a couple years ago. He moved in and that was that.

Listen, the cat distribution system just does what it does. Best to accept that he is yours now without protest.

I once waxed poetic about having a time of 'less cats in my life' and the distribution system hit me with a momma cat with 2 starving kittens and that somehow snowballed into 9 'extra' cats within a matter of months.

He sounds wonderful. Where is the photo of your new special little love muffin?

Black cats are absolutely adorable little troublemakers! If he doesn't have humans of his own, I wish you many years of happiness together.

Awwww!! Are you hoping to keep him?

HazyVioletSeptember 15, 2024

🥹 Are you considering keeping him if he doesn't already have a family? Can we get a picture of the handsome devil? 🙏🖤

just took him to SPCA. he has a chip/owner nearby. One that did not lift a finger to find him. I am really angry. There are posters all over the neighborhood and yet no calls. I am very ambivalent and upset about this. Not sure what to do.

HazyVioletSeptember 15, 2024

That's awful! I'm so sorry! At least he had a happy well-fed friday the 13th with you! Thank you for taking such good care of him while you had him. 🖤

I am imposing the butterfly rule. If I set him free and he comes back to me, I am keeping him. Terrible owner not thinking of the cat's best interests at all.

I came back to see if there was an update, and I’m so sad for you. 😔 Maybe he will remember the love and light in your home and return.

well, there is a plan/conspiracy in the works...so my hope is there will be more updates in the future. He is not with his owner currently but a very bad man they are paying to watch the cat. The owner is an irresponsible young adult who is not thinking about what is best for the cat and putting him in danger. Wow, shocking a young person making a bad call that can have lasting neg consequences. never hear about that, do we? /s

I sincerely hope he's your new cat by now.

Whether he finds his people or not, it sounds very lucky finding him, for you and for him. Cats find you when you're ready for them. That is amazing, do you have pictures?

Maybe he has a microchip! Take him to a vet or shelter to get checked
