So I’ve been trying to take better care of my skin, as I’ve always sort of struggled with self care and I’m 34 now. I’m proud that I’ve managed to keep up a facial moisturizing regimen every single day for about three months now. I actually enjoy it, which is genuinely shocking.
Anyway, in all the time I’ve spent lurking on r/MtF, I’ve seen a decent number of men talking about how “Guuuuuurl, I shave my whole body and then put lotion all over every bit of skin uwu”. And every time I see one of those comments I brush it off as men associating women with lotion and soft skin and uwu, because lotion all over the body seems time consuming and dumb.
Then my sister comes for Christmas and is lamenting that my mom’s bottle of body lotion is almost empty because, and I quote, “What in the hell am I supposed to moisturize my entire body with after I shower?”
So she went out and bought a new bottle and I got curious, so I shaved my legs for the first time in a couple months and applied the lotion all over my legs, arms, stomach, and chest after I showered.
And now I have to ask - is this something people actually do? Put lotion all over their bodies like, on a daily basis? Because I have to tell you, I’m sitting here right now and I’m uncomfortable. My clothes are sticking to my body and getting tugged every time I move. My legs feel damp and everything feels gross.
Am I doing something wrong or is this how a lotioned body is supposed to feel?
