One of my goals this years is to start a blog that will showcase my crafts, written crafting tutorials with photos, and can play my crafting tutorial videos from my YouTube channel. Unfortunately, I don’t know which blog website I should choose though. I want a simple style that gets straight to the point, so interested people can read and see the information they need to make their own crafts inspired from my creations and tutorials. I also don’t want ads I do not control on my blog, which is why I don’t want to use tumblr. What blogging websites do y’all recommend for a complete beginner at blogging?
Why not Substack?
Thanks for the recommendation! I checked out the website, and I could possibly get paid in the future with substack. I don’t know if that will ever happen, but I want to try my best to make the best blog I can!
WordPress, definitely! I've been using it since 2006.
Can you earn money off of WordPress?
Earn money in what way? Selling products/services? Subscription? WordPress is a really comprehensive content management system that can be used to create blogs, websites, etc.
I've only ever used wordpress. I didn't love it, but I liked it well enough.
Wordpress bans GC content off of the bat, heads' up.
I wonder if they ban radical feminist content.
I’ve heard of Wordpress. I’ll check it out again to see if it can get the job done to be a good place to put crafting tutorials. Thanks for commenting your experience!
I love Wordpress because there is such a huge ecosystem of plugins.
A lot of people rave about Wix but when I tried it, albeit in its early days, I found it very unwieldy.
My favourite Wordpress plugin is Content Views because it makes a site so flexible. You can feed anything anywhere and get it to look however you like.
The downside to wordpress is that you can't delete your blog
