I didn't have one, but would absolutely be down to joining one! I used to be in a Harry Potter fangroup when I was young lol

Discord servers are pretty easy to set up. I just made a spirituality and ancient period/SCA study women's group. They're also free

I’ll send you a DM so that we can chat about this more! :) If we can find a handful of others here wanting to join, I’d be happy to get a discord server started for us!

spinningintellectOctober 21, 2024

Oh my god, please DM me about this!

FlowerMoonBunnyKissOctober 21, 2024

I'm interested!

SunlightOctober 21, 2024

I haven't been able to find any, but I'd love to join one. It's a drain being active in fandom spaces, knowing most of them would turn on me at the drop of a hat for not worshipping the T.

GrayOctober 21, 2024

I’ll send you a DM! :)

Luna_LovegoodOctober 21, 2024

You rang? ;)

GrayOctober 21, 2024

Hi! :) I love your username! If you know of any HP fandom spaces for feminists, I would love to join them!

DerpinaOctober 21, 2024

I dont write HP FF (to be correct, I havent written anything in like 3 years) but sign me up for any fandom group anywhere!

Hopping in to say that some folks from this site set up a Livejournal meme-style anonymous fandom space (although we mostly just complain about real life and talk about soup these days). It's slow and very chill, but if that's anyone's cup of tea, I'm happy to provide details on how to access it in a DM.

MandyOctober 21, 2024

I would be interest in joining both of these.

GrayOctober 21, 2024

Hi! :) Is it okay if I send you a DM?

If I do create a server or other sort of group for fanfiction, does anyone here have any suggestions for what security measures should be set in place to protect the community from trolls and people joining in bad faith?

Would anyone here be interested in helping me with either building and designing the space, and/or helping moderate it? If we can get a trusted group of at least five to ten of us willing to help with moderating or screening members, I think building up a fandom community for feminists/gender-criticals could become feasible and easy to manage.

I’m late, but I moderate a server that has a verification system set up. New users fill out a form which mods look over to determine whether or not they’ll be given full access to the server. Some TRAs might try to get in, but if they try to fake being a radfem, they’ll usually fill out the form with “information” about radical feminism that they heard from other TRAs - so it’s easy to spot. There may also be trolls who spam “I hate [insert slur here]” in all of the response fields.

'No hate' is a good old way. 'Hate' in this case does not refer to vauge feelings of negativity about whomever is currently en vouge as a victim.

It refers to needlessly criticising, or heaping negativity upon something that someone else enjoys, be it real-world opinions, people's sex, or a certain character/ship that people don't like.

This also helps keep a good atmosphere. For example, while I am deeply unhappy with trans people invading my spaces, I would prefer to rant about them to a friend. In fandom spaces, mild, civil criticism could be fine, but ranting about them would incur negative energy, and place the focus on politics rather than fandom.

GrayOctober 24, 2024

I fully agree! This is how I would want for the group to be run tbh, since I think freedom for women to have discussions civilly and express differing opinions is important, but there’s ways to express these opinions without hate or judgement, so I wouldn’t want a negative atmosphere to be created where members can’t put aside their politics and let others enjoy fandom in peace. Most fandom spaces go by rules like “ship and let ship” or I think that would be a good rule to implement as well.
