Need Advice or SupportThey promoted a man. And then I got laid off
I don’t really know how to process my thoughts and feelings about a redundancy/layoff that happened to me a few weeks ago. It feels like there’s a toxin in my body and I can’t get it out. Has anyone got any tips or has anyone been through this?
I worked at a big company and was talking to my boss about a path towards deputy head of department. I put things in place such as training our staff and recommendations on how to improve our service. Juniors confided in me about the gender asymmetry in terms of seniority. I had a good rapport with them.
And then a few weeks ago a round of layoffs happened and it was me that finance/ mgmt chose. I’ve been through a legal battle with them and on the day I signed an NDA, I found out that they promoted another guy to the deputy head of department. I put in all the work and my cowardly manager promoted a guy and laid me off. I just don’t know how to ever get over this. I was the only female senior.
