I hope this is in the correct circle. I apologise if it isn't.
Honestly hate it when my father gets in one of his moods. It's just past 8:00 in the morning over here and he's already shitty because of some stuff. He's absolutely unpleasant to be around. Imagine being an adult and still getting snapped at by your father (not that I have to take it, though). I have a feeling he would not treat my brother this way (though my brother doesn't live here anymore) and only snaps at me, probably easier because I'm a woman. No point to this post other than irritation and frustration. That's it.
She's a total Queen and I love her so much.
"My queer ass" these people don't have a personality, that's why they define themselves on "muh queerness" and nothing else.
"My queer ass" is the calling card of a homophobic straight person at this point.
"My queer ass" these people don't have a personality, that's why they define themselves on "muh queerness" and nothing else.
Seriously. I mean, get a life, people. Get any hobby other than just "being [insert demographic here]."
Thak God for JK.
Rarely do women get into her position of "I don't need to give a fuck what you think" level of success.
Bravo
my local women-owned bookstore let Rowling's books sell out about a year ago and never restocked. and they wonder why they're going out of business.
Hmmm we don't stock the most popular titles in existence because we don't like that author for who they are as a person (but let's not look closely at any other authors), why are we losing money?? 🤔 It must be the customers who are wrong
Also, thereby alienating a huge percentage of our customer base who probably agree with JKR. Hmm 🤔 the mystery continues 🤔
But I'll bet that they're totally fine with displaying and selling classics by male authors who were publicly racist, sexist, etc...
“And here’s our collection of Tolkien books, right underneath a Song of Ice and Fire” - bookstore worker.
I kinda wish Tolkien were alive sometimes, because I imagine he would have something to say about the gender craze ...
(They are fine with male authors being racist and sexist and whatnot, as long as those authors never said a word against gendernonsense, but let's be real here, Tolkien would not believe in gendernonsense. It is, at the very least, extremely unlikely.)
Exactly. When was the last time you heard anyone mention Brandon Sanderson was a Mormon, with all the views on homosexuals you would expect that to entail? Even better: I once saw a book shop's display of "fantasy by non-problematic authors" (clearly supposed to be alternatives to Harry Potter due to JKR being the queen of TERFs) and most of the books were Sanderson's. Pretty sure you can find the image of this online. I wonder if Sanderson's bigotry "doesn't count" because it's towards actual gay people rather than men who want to rape lesbians, or if it's simply because he's a man?
A bit of both, I'd wager.
Plus, I think they do not mind implicit homophobia. Just like they didn't mind Rowling's implicit stance against men in women's spaces when it was just the Gryffindor girl dorm not letting boys in. So just knowing that someone was a Mormon, or a Catholic, etc, and would very probably have had certain views on homosexuality isn't a problem.
They're so deluded they probably think Sanderson would have agreed with gendernonsense, since he didn't come out and say anything to the contrary.
By the Norman Mailer and HP Lovecraft.
Orson Scott Card.
To make it easier, let's list the men who weren't problematic in any way
«crickets»
These types of people are unhirable. This person should be fired, not for hating someone but for not doing the job and actively sabotaging sales.
Yep. I saw a post on Reddit freaking out because of an email from a hiring manager who sent it to the wrong person - she was telling others not to hire "pronoun people" and the Reddit TPAs lost their shit. She's 100% right though. It's a red flag for unreasonable behavior and selfishness.
I bet there were many, many, many more such mails, who got to the right person no problem.
Because she is right.
Meanwhile the bookstores I frequent both have designated shelves for HP books and merch cause they sell like hotcakes.
Yeah the (otherwise awesome) children's bookstore near me has a prominent "gender identity" section in Young Adult, and multiple employees with pronoun badges, and at one point I noticed that they had put the Potter series down on a bottom shelf in a random corner.
That lasted about a week before returning to a prominent, eye-level area. Maybe they were losing money because people assumed they didn't have the books and left, or maybe they just got sick of being asked where the Harry Potter books are and having to personally show people, but either way I find it funny.
Hahaha I noticed recently that one of my frequent bookstores, who in 2020 pushed the HP section to the very back, has slowly been moving it to the front again. They also now have a shelf of HP candy/butterbeer at the check-out line too. :)
There's one local mostly-grocery store that has a section of toys and games and such mostly dedicated to pop culture, and over the last year the selection of Harry Potter stuff they carry has expanded to take over an entire aisle. Has to be a huge seller for them to dedicate that kind of real estate to it. Love to see it.
And its still selling even though the last HP book was published over a decade ago!
I can't wait to see the TRA meltdown when the HP TV series premiers and causes a huge uptick in the sales of the books and merchandise!
I'm keeping fingers crossed that it will actually be everything the movies weren't, do justice to the books, and become the definitive adaptation. Both because I'd like to see a version that actually captures the tone and the humor, but also because pettily I'd like to see Radcliffe and Watson stop 'being' Harry and Hermione in the public eye. Let them stand on the strength of their own talents if they find their lingering connection to JK Rowling so distasteful.
Radcliffe and Watson were such bad choices, from their looks alone, their backstabbery and ingratitude are just the icing on the cake.
(I want a curly-haired Hermione, for once. Watson's wavy hair was a bad joke. I don't always care about such details, but with Hermione, her curly hair is an essential part of her character arc. As are her teeth. Which Watson couldn't be arsed to wear the prothesis for after the first movie.)
Yeah, the owner of the bookstore may not be happy about this.
This person probably works at a chain books store and is spine facing the potter books in the potter section.
This. The bookstore I love to frequent has a whole section dedicated to HP merch, with a larger-than-life statue of Harry himself smack in the middle, plus extra shelves and I don't know how many different editions both in English and German of all the books.
I have a lot of favorite bookstores, two always have big Harry Potter tables; and another just posted the other day asking for donations of Harry Potter books because they are always selling out (a secondhand bookshop). It doesn't matter that this loser turns them around, anyway, people will know where to look for them.
TRA are so fucking cringe. Did they think this was an own?
Why can't they dedicate this energy into shit that actually matters, like rapists and pedophiles?
Also did anyone get huge TIF NB vibes from this?
Also did anyone get huge TIF NB vibes from this?
Oh, 100%.
Just based on the “my queer ass” alone. That’s “ain’t I special” TIF NB language.
Um. If TRAs tried to get rid of rapists and pedophiles, there would be no T.
Lol!!!!
You are on fire this week 🥹
Lol. I am re-reading "The Transsexual Empire". Janice Raymond was on fire 45 years ago and she was so on target. We all should have listened better. Time to light the fire again.
Damn, another book I need to get
Janice Raymond also recently published another book on the subject called “DoubleThink: A Feminist Challenge to Transgenderism.” I haven’t read it yet but it is on my to do list
Yes. And without trying to sound hateful. Fat, glasses and short coloured hair. Also white. Probably on the spectrum too or some other mental illness. Into yaoi. "Quirky".
Probably on the spectrum too or some other mental illness.
Self-diagnosed, of course.
LiterallyTheyAlwaysLookLikeThat.jpg
The Official "Nonconformist" Uniform strikes again!
Always a mask too. I know it’s become kind of a cliche/joke that woke ppl/“liberals” always wear masks, but these days I pretty much only see them being worn by tifs. Why??? Are they trying to hide their feminine jaw/mouth area or something??
I saw a TIM wearing one the other day. classic skinny incel with greasy uncombed hair, clothes that look like little girls even though he was fully covered, and a mask. like you aint foolin no one pal.
This is why I’m scared to dye my hair. I’ll be mistaken as one of their people.
Might not have been an own, but was certainly a virtue signal. 'Hey look, I know I work in a bookstore that carries heretical works by an apostate, but I'm still one of the GOOD ONES, I did a petulant thing and tweeted about it, see??'
It's very telling that these people tag her to say these things and think they are doing some harm, clearly projecting their own fragile egos. As part of the cult, difference of opinion is a sin, and being shunned is the ultimate punishment. Meanwhile, sane people are perfectly fine being shunned from the loonies.
This. When people act like this, no longer sharing their company isn't the deprivation they think it is.
It's such virtue signaling bullshit
That is a person seriously deluded about their own importance. Rowling's response is pure gold.
Ableist? That's a new one I've seen people call JK, what is the argument this time?
The only time I’ve heard this has been many years ago, when a bunch of people who are not in wheelchairs claimed she was ableist because the magic staircases were the only way to get around hogwarts. And that no characters were in wheelchairs. Because of course according to those (able bodied) idiots, who are the only people who ever seem to get listened to on “ableism”, think disability = chair, and nothing else.
Also something about how magic can likely cure any non magical birth defects/diseases and somehow curing stuff is always ableist. Because all us disableds are just like the deaf community right?
Funny how they seem to forget things like Neville’s parents, or the werewolf arcs of both Lupin, and especially Bill - a story I never thought I’d personally relate to until becoming permanently disabled myself. JK is a human being full of love and empathy, who recognizes that no matter our physical state we are worthy of love, and that appearance does not factor into that kind of pure love. The Molly/Fleur situation after Bill is bitten is so realistic (Molly being the 99%), only someone who truly sees disabled people as valuable could write that.
They also forget about Moody. Missing one leg and one eye. Yes, he has replacements, but I'd say he still counts as disabled.
The reason why no one in Hogwarts is in a wheelchair is because in the Potterverse, only dark magic can cause wounds that can't be healed with magic. (And even if someone lost the function in both their legs, by dark magic, before even starting school, we are here talking of people who can make a pineapple tap dance. There's a myriad of ways they could find a solution that works with stairs, instead of opting for muggle wheelchairs.)
Damn, I guess Jesus must have been ableist af considering he helped a blind person to see. (Note: I’m not religious but I grew up Catholic and some of these Bible stories really stick with me haha)
It's ableist to cure suffering 😤
The way I groaned after realizing people actually think MAGICAL fuckin' STAIRCASES are ableist..................
Just the same way anyone who doesn't agree with their gospel is "genocidal", the definition of genocide be damned, Be "guilty" of one "sin" and you're guilty of them all.
Forced teaming. TQ forced teaming with LGB. With any other group they think will get people to see them (TQ) as an "oppressed minority".
I guess maybe they're admitting they purposely cripple themselves?
Yeah, I have heard many TIFs have knee problems from the testosterone. It's sad.
You shouldn't work at a bookstore if you're going to behave like this.
Harry Potter is abelist now? Since when? I know they BS'd some hindsight racism/homophobia/etc that wasn't there before. But the abelism is new. 🤣
Also, I notice the Queer Ass still sells the evil books (probably because they make money despite being hidden). And I bet this is one of those heterosexual "queers" who identifies as not straight because she has blue hair and her boyfriend practices polyamory
JENFF BENZODIAZEPINES 😡😡😡 I WAMT U 2 U NO 😡😡😡 I ONLY BROWS AMZON IN IGOCNITO MODE 😡😡😡
Now, I'm not a native speaker, but if they want to prevent people from finding JKs books, wouldn't the books need to be kept spine-in since spine-out is the default and allows you to see title and author?
😂😂😂😂😂
She’s ableist now too? I must’ve missed that. 😂
I doubt this guy works in a bookstore because he doesn't know the first thing about hiding books from view.
He says he makes sure "to spine-out" out JKR's books on shelves rather than "front-face them out."
But the way to hide books from view on bookstore or library shelves is to place them "spine-in" not "spine-out." The spines of books generally clearly show the book title, author's name and publisher. That's always been the case.
JKR's books - whether in hardcover or paperback form - all have the titles, her name and publisher clearly printed on the spines.
I suspect this fella has never set foot in bookstore or library in his life. He probably gets all his books from online stores, and perhaps even in electronic form rather than printed on paper and bound in covers with spines.
They get so angry when even one woman refuses to define herself as a support animal for everyone else.
Worse
She is centering women in her feminism
Yuck
If your feminism doesn't center penises 24/7, 👏its👏not👏real👏feminism👏!!!!
Since we are changing language, we are going to change spelling too
It’s feMANism now. Hope that helps
Don't you mean uterus-owners? Or menstruators?
I think that’s still too exclusive
Since the TIMs can get periods now
Plus Indis Willoughby says he had the doctor make him a ‘cervix’ which is totally like having a uterus
So I think we are now ‘Primary fealty and adulation owers’
“Support animal for everyone else”. Love this.
