Keir Starmer posted two X posts yesterday (Mothering Sunday). One was a repost about the Myanmar earthquake, and the other said:
“As the holy month of Ramadan ends, I wish Muslims in the UK and across the world a blessed and joyful Eid-al-Fitr.
Eid Mubarak!”
So, no mention of mothers. But a mention of a Muslim celebration day. Something feels off about this. By all means wish Muslims a happy holiday, but don’t ignore one of the ‘special calendar days’ in the year that actually means something and stands for something important i.e. the women who bring life into the world.
