I just had minor surgery that only women can have
I’m lying in bed recovering from minor surgery I had at the gynaecologist office.
I’m so lucky that my doctor sent me to this gynaecologist because she is the one of the few doctors who do this type of surgery and don’t consider it cosmetic. My doctor warned me that I needed to see this doctor before she retired otherwise I would be paying thousands of dollars for the surgery. The gynaecologist is a feminist and she classified the surgery as something that my health plan would pay for.
A little background: I have mentioned this before but years ago when my daughter was born the doctor who stitched me up after my episiotomy and tearing only put one stitch in and it fell out the following day. My labia healed deformed hanging down making walking painful and it would get caught in my pubic hair and flop over my vagina which would make me feel like my vagina was suffocating. During certain parts of my cycle it would be so irritating that it it would interfere with my sleep. These problems became exacerbated after I had an abortion at 20 weeks which was more complicated because how far along I was in the pregnancy.
A year ago I felt so much despair thinking that I would have to deal with this for the rest of my life and I am so grateful to this gynaecologist for providing this type healthcare for me and understanding that I didn’t want it for cosmetic reasons.
My thoughts today are: I had to have surgery because of trauma to my vulva from giving birth, which was exacerbated by a later abortion for a pregnancy that I very much wanted. The problem that this trauma created is made worse during certain periods of my menstrual cycle. I’m lucky that the surgery was covered by my health clear plan only because my doctor saw this as important enough to send me to a gynaecologist who also viewed it as important enough that it should be covered by my health plan.
But men who have spinning skirts are the exactly the same as me.
