Hi m0RT, I just posted this link but deleted it as you were two minutes ahead of me.

I am so glad this happened. I cannot forget the woman who was raped on a hospital ward, it was all on camera. In this case, the hospital gaslighted this woman for an entire year telling her she couldn't have been raped because there were no men on the ward. That was a nefarious thing to do, not to mention cruel. I wonder if anyone ever got into legal trouble over that?

Yes, it's important for some women to be able to request a caregiver of the same sex. It absolutely should be a right to be able to do so.

Yes, we need sex specific language. Around 15% of the UK's residents were born elsewhere and we cannot expect that English is always their first language. That and some people may simply not know they are a "person with ovaries" but will know they are a woman.

Thank god a bit of sanity is returning to women's healthcare in the UK. Hopefully it spreads worldwide.

Trans women will be banned from female hospital wards under the Health Secretary’s plans to restore “common sense” to the NHS.

On Tuesday, Steve Barclay will announce proposals to push back against “wokery” in the health service that has led to women’s rights being increasingly sidelined.

The changes would give men and women the right to be cared for on wards only shared by people of their own biological sex, and to have intimate care provided by those of the same sex.

Mr Barclay said the plan would mean the return of “a common-sense approach to sex and equality”, ensuring that women’s dignity was protected and their voices heard.

The proposals follow concerns from patients and staff about biological men being allowed on to women’s hospital wards. In 2021, NHS guidance said trans patients could be placed on single-sex wards on the basis of the gender with which they identified.

Mr Barclay will also announce the return of “sex-specific” language to the NHS after references to women were expunged from advice on the menopause and diseases such as cervical and ovarian cancer. On Monday, women’s campaign groups hailed the changes as “fantastic news” and a return to “reality-based thinking”.

Mr Barclay has become frustrated by “ideological dogma” in the health service, where terms such as “breastfeeding” have been replaced by “chestfeeding” and guidance refers to pregnant “people” rather than women.

I hope they name names for /1/ who wrote that 2021 "guidance", and /2/ who was responsible for implementing it at the NHS.

Sanity. In health care, of all places, where one would never have expected this level of capture. May the change be permanent.

The "chestfeeding" thing was pretty much it for me. I never understood how medical misterminology was required to spare the feelings of less than a dozen transgender men who had chosen to keep their female organs to birth and breastfeed, versus tens of millions of women and medical professionals.

It was insane. If an individual patient requests their doctor use "chestfeeding" then whatever, fine for then in that private situation, but changing it everywhere was just ABSURD.
