Ozempic

I posted something similar to this to the Women circle but it was removed and I was told to post here.

This is a warning and my own personal experience.

About three or four years ago I was 100lbs overweight and diagnosed type 2 diabetic. Fear of the disease led me to completely turn my diet and exercise habits around and I lost the excess weight and liwered my blood sugars fairly quickly. Despite this turnaround my doctor started me on Ozempic. I actually gained back some of the weight I had lost after starting it, but that is not what troubles me most about this medication. After starting it, my liver enzymes started coming back elevated in blood labs, my liver appeared dense in ultrasound, and I have had for about a year now constant pain in my center, back, and side that I believe is deferred pain f4om my liver. My bowel movements are also mostly painful, urgent, non productive steatorrhea. I have had several specialist diagnostic procedures. At no point has any doctor suggested I try to stop the Ozempic or that it may be the cause of my issues, and I can't believe it took me so long to question this for myself. I searched online and Ozempic can in fact cause liver inflamation in some individuals. I stopped taking it last month and so far my symptoms have already let up to an incredible degree. The way this drug is so aggressively marketed at women made me feel I should post this warning. If you take this drug make sure your provider monitors your liver function and stop taking it if you have symptoms or pain! Educate and advocate for yourself because I don't believe big pharma or even our doctors generally care about us.

There were some very thoughtful supportive comments under my deleted post, so adknowledgement and thanks to the women who posted those.
