Finding a Therapist
Posted February 10, 2022 by izzy314 in WomensHealthLounge

Really frustrated right now trying to find a therapist that isn't knee-deep in the gender woo. I was referred to someone who seemed promising but looking at her website it turns out that she's big into the 'queer' scene. I'm not sure I would feel entirely comfortable discussing things with her or even entirely trust her advice.

It's hard enough to decide that you need therapy and then trying to find a decent therapist is exhausting. But I know I desperately need it for a variety of reasons. I'm just so tired. I've considered going to a Christian therapist (unpopular here, I know) just to avoid all the trans/nb crap, but that can come with its own slew of issues.

I'm going to give it a shot anyway, because I'm desperate, but I'm even more anxious about it than I otherwise would have been because of this stupid gender ideology minefield.

One more comment because it makes me happy:

Professor Weasley is voiced by the actress who plays Mrs. Patmore on Downton Abbey! 🥰

I really have to get back to the game. I have this thing where I can't finish bigger games in one go, I always take like a 2 year break in between somewhere. I loved that the game lets you be a Slytherin (they just have the best aesthetics)

My mom and I both have the game and were playing it together, but we're in different houses: I'm a Hufflepuff & she's Ravenclaw. We're already planning out our next playthroughs to see the other common rooms & questlines!

Mom has finished the game, I'm currently on hitaus. I took a break while reddit was spamming reddit with spoilers

Editing to add: I'm roleplaying as a member of family Black, effectively the royal family of the Wizarding World. I went into the game blind and did not know the Headmaster is also from family Black. It's hilarious to me when NPCs badmouth Family Black to my character, who is named Arcadia Black.

Mlle_HedgehogNovember 1, 2023

Haha, that's fun. I am enjoying all the NPC chatter. It's fun to overhear all the conversations.

BellaBlueNovember 1, 2023

My favorite NPC is the travelling musician! He reminds me of Arthur Weasley with his love of Muggle things 😀

"Look here at my newest instrument! The Muggles refer to it as a lute!"

Mlle_HedgehogNovember 1, 2023

I'm still really early in the game but I'm loving all the details they've put into it 😄

BellaBlueNovember 1, 2023

You will meet him in Hogsmede early enough! 😀

I am a Hufflepuff. I am not really a gamer but I bought this game. My partner is the gamer. Honestly it's just lovely to explore Hogwarts. At the rate I'm going it could be two years down the road and I still won't be bored with it. We have a PS5.

I started to replay it after completing it as a Ravenclaw; my second run was as a Hufflepuff, or rather, it still is because I haven't finished it yet. The common room is glorious, it feels a bit like a hobbit's home, very earthy, very comfy... and there's food everywhere 😄The Jackdaw quest has a different opening than it had for my Ravenclaw, and in my opinion, it was a lot better for the Hufflepuff. Those are the only real differences, though as a Hufflepuff, I refrained from learning the Unforgivable Curses. A Hufflepuff wouldn't do that. My Ravenclaw did out of sheer curiosity because I figured Ravenclaws wanna know and learn everything 😁 There are two possible outcomes for the Sebastian storyline in the end, as far as I know, but the biggest difference really is in the Jackdaw quest - which is why I'm considering restarting as a Slytherin and then as a Gryffindor simply to see what their quests look like. And because I wanna see the common rooms 😁

I am a completionist- finished it to 100% which means playing at least part of each house. Absolutely obsessed w the game

Lemonade_MasqueradeNovember 1, 2023

Each house only has one house-specific quest. It's fairly early, and may be worth replaying to that point if you want to see the others (Imo, Hufflepuff is the only one that would be worth it if you didn't choose that house to begin with). Otherwise, there's no real reason to play again just for a different house. Just enjoy the one you pick without worrying you are missing anything huge!

As a tip, you won't get enough points to unlock every ability in the skill tree. You get most of them, and I forget how many you are short by the end. But just be aware that you'll have to skip a few.

Mlle_HedgehogNovember 1, 2023

Ah, that's good to know about the skill points. I usually like to max out everything I can but I'll have to be selective :D

ZamielNovember 1, 2023

My sister and I are both playing, I'm in Griffindor and she's in Ravenclaw. The common rooms are different but you're hardly ever in there. Characters rarely make little throwaway comments like "oh you're pretty [ x ] for a [ house ]". There's only one quest I know of that was significantly different because it's always related to your own house in some way (for me it involved Nearly Headless Nick and the Headless Hunt, very fun).

I think the most noticeable difference is that the dozens of school outfits/cloaks/robes/capes/scarves you get are in your house colours.

VestalVirginNovember 1, 2023

Oooch, damn, I shouldn't have read the spoiler, so jealous now. (I would be so happy to get Nearly Headless Nick accepted in the Headless Hunt, but I guess that can't be the outcome, after all it is set before Harry, and he still didn't manage to join when Harry meets him. Now, to be fair, he doesn't really fit the definition of headless, but if men can be women in Hogwarts Legacy, and there appears to be a trans character, then good old Nick can be a headless hunter, dangit.)

EdelgardNovember 1, 2023

I'm so jealous ! I will be playing it when it comes out on the switch though, so I just need to be a little more patient.

I'm glad to hear you've been healing and can enjoy the freedom that comes with peaking.

Out of curiosity, which house did you choose ?

Mlle_HedgehogNovember 1, 2023

Usually I'm Gryffindor but the game gave me Ravenclaw so I decided to go with that. No regrets so far!

EdelgardNovember 1, 2023

Ah, good to hear you're enjoying the Ravenclaw playthrough. It's "my" house, but I was thinking of making a Hufflepuff character because I've heard so many people say they had the most interesting quest.

BellaBlueNovember 1, 2023

As a Hufflepuff I can say with full conviction that our Common Room is the prettiest 🥰

JehaneNovember 3, 2023

I love the Hufflepuff common room, it's super cosy :D The Ravenclaw common room is pretty stylish and has a great view, but it can't compete with Hufflepuff in terms of cosyness :)

hufflepuff_queenNovember 2, 2023

I've played all the houses except Slytherin (which I will do on my next playthrough haha). Maybe I'm biased but Hufflepuff had the best common room and quest so far!

TallemajaNovember 1, 2023

I've played the full game as Gryffindor and the early game as the other three houses (there's a PS5 trophy for getting to a certain point with each house).

The house quests are pretty short. I thought Hufflepuff was the best one. All the common rooms are interesting and fun to look around, but as someone else mentioned, you're not in them much.

I'd say it's worth playing the early game as each house just to check out the common rooms, but I don't think your house matters much for the bulk of the game.

Mlle_HedgehogNovember 1, 2023

I'm playing on PS5 too so it would be fun to get the trophy hehe. I may have to give that a go.

hufflepuff_queenNovember 2, 2023

I'm playing on my PC right now as a Gryffindor character I made up. I'm obviously a Hufflepuff myself (which is what I played on my first playthrough as myself!). The giant spiders you have to battle have rollerskates to make them appear less scary.

VestalVirginNovember 1, 2023

I envy you! My computer isn't good enough for it, sadly.

Have all the fun!

DreamingsirenNovember 19, 2023

I really want to pick it up now that it’s released on switch but I can’t decide from the reviews yet if it’s worth the downgrade in graphics compared to PC

epbNovember 10, 2023

Ugh STILL waiting for it to come out on the Switch...

hufflepuff_queenNovember 2, 2023

I am glad you're enjoying the game. I love Hogwarts Legacy. 🙂 I'm actually bummed out that I didn't have time to play it tonight lol.
