Experiences going off of birth control?

I’m almost 24 and I’ve been on the pill since I was like 17 or so. My doctor sucks and doesn’t refill my prescriptions on time so I haven’t had the pills for a couple of weeks now, and it got me thinking like, why am I even on this in the first place? My pediatrician just kind of randomly prescribed it to me in high school.

I’ve been on it for my whole adult life so far so I don’t even know what side effects I’m experiencing on it or if it affects my emotions at all.

I’ve seen women here sometimes talking about how bad hormonal birth control is for you so I was wondering if anyone here has positive/negative experiences with going off the pill.

(I’m not worried about pregnancy, the guy I’m with has a vasectomy.)
