Anyone else get PMS/Period ‘Flu’
Posted February 22, 2025 by IronicWolf in WomensHealthLounge

I’ve always tended towards PMS but it’s mainly usually made me feel weepy and tired, but more recently the tiredness is disabling and is accompanied by physical symptoms like headache, sore throat, runny nose, achy bones, chills, and a higher temperature. Naturally I think I’ve come down with something and it puts me out of action for around five days at a time.

Thanks to PCOS, I’ve always been hopelessly irregular so each time this happens I am caught unawares and assume I’ve caught a cold and don’t realise until my period starts (which is when symptoms stop) what it was. Does anybody else get anything like this? Have you found a way of dealing with it? Because feeling as if I have flu for several days and needing to take to my bed, not being able to predict when it’s coming is actually somewhat inconvenient. GP can’t really help apart from very usefully noting ‘you’ve always had a bit of a PMS problem, haven’t you?’
