Hair still falling out - even more so.

A year ago I made this post: https://ovarit.com/o/WomensHealthLounge/19032/have-any-of-the-women-experienced-hair-loss

Since then I've been on Spironolactone since last July. This made my hair shed but also regrow at the same time. I had lots of baby hair and was able to stop wearing toppers and just put my hair in a pony. My derm told me switching from Yasmin to Diane 35 would help even more.... the worst decision ever.

I changed to Diane in November. My hair is now extremely dry and brittle and shedding excessively. All of the hair I regrew on Spiro is fine and my hair is thinner than ever.

My sister's wedding is in July and I just feel o awful knowing I'll be bald at it. I informed the derm that this was happening and she told me to just stay on it.

Has anybody else had this issue and had BC that should improve it actually end up worsening it? I'm also on minox and supplements. I am just so deflated.

I’m so sorry.

Wigs and toppers are always an option, as are hair fibers (or eyeshadow) to fill in the thin spots. You can get some nice looking, cheap wigs if money is an issue. There are ways to make wigs look better too, like plucking the part.

I had hairloss from a stress episode. The stress period was over but my doctor said it the event that triggers the hairloss could be 3-4 months before hair loss happens. He gave me a spray to stop most of the hairloss immediatly and i just had to relax, eat enough proteins and and he gave me a vitamin supplement as well eventhough my blood came up good for vitamins and also thyroid. He also advised me to not blowdry my hair and go to the pharmacy for a very mild shampoo.

My hairloss from thyroid later is just basicly nothing you can do about that until the thyroid is fixed.

There is no need to feel awful you could buy one of those fancy lady hats and wear a silk scarf under it over your head if you can not fix the sides. If there is ever a reason to buy a fancy hat , the wedding of your sister is it.

Why would the body shed hair when stressed? It doesn't seem like it would help anything, especially 3-4 months later.

I'm not a doctor so i'll just give you my best guess.

I think when you are stressed the body shuts down anything that is not a vital life support system to focus energy on survival. Hair is not vital. It's why you turn grey (body stops making cells that create colour) and lose hair when really stressed.

I think the 3-4 months have to do with the cycles hairfollicles have. They grow a follicle, grow hair for years and then it falls out and and the cycle restarts after some rest. It's why you lose some hair all the time. Now if all your follicles just stop working your hair falls out like usual but the follicles don't restart back up and stay a sleep for longer so after weeks or months it looks like you start going bald eventhough that process started a while ago.

Thank you. That's fascinating.

I don't have any advice but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for what you're going through. I lost A LOT of hair after I was pregnant over a year ago and it really sucked. I didn't really do much (hair oils that didn't really work) and just waited. Now, my hair is mostly back but it's still thinner than before. Hugs ❤️
