I'm still waiting for a cross body seat belt that I don't have to adjust at least once (away from sawing at my neck or slipping under my breasts) while driving. Distraction and discomfort by design. Thanks guys! One of these days I'm going to make some kind of DIY fix for that.
A seat belt that is suitable for women when heavily pregnant would be nice too.
OMG I can only imagine the discomfort and distraction there! That's a tough design challenge though. A three dimensional detachable basket that cups the belly? A wider across the lap band that stretches?
Boy, I bet there would be a market for something like that.
I saw an attachment that someone made that hooked under the seat and came up between the legs to pull the lap band down below the belly. IANAE, but A hook under the seat seems like a pretty simple feature to include standard. I mean, hooks for child car seats are pretty standard...
Seatbelts are one of those daily frustrations that men can’t even comprehend. I’m so afraid of getting into a car accident and fucking dying because the seatbelt won’t sit properly across my chest.
Check and see if there is a height adjustment slider on the inside of the car where the seat belt is mounted; there’s usually a groove and a handle that lets you lower that upper most mount. Makes a big difference.
Not the car in the picture that is for sure, how do you open the door when you are crammed in the tight spot at the supermarket garage?
A car with a carseat built in that you can just kind of pull out like an armrest when you have an extra kid with you. And there are three of them in the backseat. And they are easy to use.
Wish they made trucks designed for women. I know, I know they’re not good for the environment and everything, but some of us ladies like trucks too.
I knew who the author of this comment was before I even checked the username
Yes! The article notes women are major purchasers!
Nearly half a century later, General Motors took a different approach in an effort to reach women in the full-size truck market. At the time, in 2002, GM market research showed that women held 50 percent of the market segment and influenced 85 percent of purchase decisions.
I loved these lines too:
Derived from Barletta’s workshop, the team’s rationale was simple: If you meet the expectations of women, you will exceed the expectations of men.
‐----
Notably, polls taken by Volvo during the car’s two-year press tour show that men and women favored the same YCC features—from run-flat tires to easy-to-clean paintwork—just in different order. “What we ended up with was a car for everyone,” says Palmertz. “It doesn’t mean that we excluded the men. It was more that we included women.”
Tacos are the bomb. Also, sometimes you need to haul crap around. Can’t put cubic yards of loose undyed mulch from the dump for your organic veggie garden in a Prius.
Exactly. And I’d give anything to be able to haul big loads of recycling out of my garage. They don’t recycle it where I live for some stupid reason and I wish I could take it all to the recycling center in one trip.
To add to this, apparently the early electric cars partly failed due to them being seen as for women and not very manly, because they didn't have a crank to start the car. The manufacturers of these cars also prioritized safety and comfort, which apparently is only something women want...
I just read about this in Katrine Marcal's book Mother of Invention, and it also covers several other items, like suitcases on wheels, that didn't take off initially because of gender bullshit.

Leave it to men to keep a product in a substandard state rather than threaten their fragile masculinity. 🤣
It's so pathetic! I don't know how they don't realize how embarrassing it is, but I guess more fodder for us to laugh at them about ;)
But ... but ... there are cars with seat heating.
Which is bad for men's sperm. But I never heard them complaining about that being for women.
(Even though, realistically, well, women do get cold easier than men, and it doesn't hurt our chances of having babies to sit in a warm and comfy seat.)
Should we ask a woman her thoughts on her car? Nah....
Did they also make them the same height as an average woman and reduce their strength?
Sounds like all those male engineers were completely valid women, just like TIMs! I mean, they had on heels and spinny garbage bag skirts and long “girly” nails! 🤦🏻♀️ Men never cease to be a joke.
What the actual fuck.
Reminds me of this tweet.
