From what I read in the article you linked, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker sounds like she was an amazing, incredibly strong woman. I will definitely research more about Dr. Walker and create some portrait sketches of her.

Men only allowing certain clothing to be worn for women and girls was definitely used to oppress Dr. Walker and the women and girls of her day. The same thing is still happening today, just in different ways.
