Thank you for posting this! It’s fascinating, and only recently I was wondering how I would go about finding performances of the female equivalent of monastery music. Now I have a starting place - Musica Secreta and Celestial Sirens.
I also recommend looking for Hildegard von Bingen. She was an incredible woman: she was a polymath - abbess, composer, writer, public speaker, she founded her own convent, - she even invented her own language. Her writing covered subjects such as medicine, nutrition, natural history, and spirituality, plus plays and poetry. Plus her musical compositions - she composed for the nuns in her convent.
This circle is for discussing anything and everything relating to women's history, even if it's not explicitly feminist.

Thank you. I’m a little aware of her (recalling Music Appreciation class in 1993….), but will definitely listen/read more.
The Italian ensemble, Cappella Artemisia, is well worth checking out as well.
