BadassA Complete List Of Women's Inventions (and Contributions)
Posted January 5, 2022 by PGTips4Lyfe in WomensHistory

Hey ya'll. Sort of aligned with these previous posts I've made, one linking to this:

The Myth Of Women's Inferiority By Evelyn Reed

and here where I had to deal with a scrote screaming that women didn't invent lightbulb..... (TW: DV):

All of this by a backdrop of being reminded of how we're erased from history....

I feel like its time to make a complete list of all women's inventions, discoveries and contributions over history that the history books we grew up with in school didn't tell us.

I've seen some buzzfeed types of compilations but they always were limited in their scope like: top 10 women you never new were responsible for cool everyday inventions! or top 10 black women who invented things!

Which are great, but they are clickbaity and always limited to a certain number or category.

I want a full comprehensive, systematized and searchable list. The kind of thing you sneak with wiki QR code link to on a standardized textbook. I might make a pastebin of it, then create a qr code sticker (maybe sell on etsy?)

So I'm going to get started with it.

I think we can break this into these categories.

One is Inventions/Theories/Discoveries,

two is Movements (like did you know our 40 hour work week is because of a woman? See: Francis Perkins),

another category would be Business/Power (like Elizabeth 1, or Oprah Winfrey.)

Another category would be music/arts.

And another category would be firsts like the first woman in space.

And maybe another category would be groups of women (like the Women's March on the Palace of Versailles Oct 5th, 1789, which was the ACTUAL end of the french monarchy there, not the storming of the bastille - it was women getting mad who made the king and queen defect.)

I can't do this alone, but I want to start with this and then add more and more and more with your contributions.

Maybe (dear mods?) we can make this a permanent sticky at the top of this circle after all its women's history?)

So lets begin with some notables I know off the top of my head. I will probably run out of character space quickly.

PART 1 of ....?

Female inventors (hope to sort this by date, wiki actually has a complete alphabetical list of female inventors, but no list by date or invention):

Tabitha Babbit - circular saw for a saw mill 1813 (some controversy on whether it was the first circular saw or just one that was for a saw mill).
