I was so curious about this woman. I want to know more about her. But I’m unable to find anything else.
I want to know her story.
If You don't already know about Charlotte "Charley" Parkhurst, She drove horse-drawn coaches during the same time period as this mysterious Woman did.
Not a bad occupation for a woman wanting to escape womanhood to take for that time. Not as physically intensive as other male labor jobs and some privacy/rotating people they were working with, so not a ton of time for people to pay attention. Also if service work then was like service work now, you were invisible to many.
It would be funny if like 20% of the coach drivers were actually women.
Testosterone was not isolated and purified for medicinal use until the 1930s (when it was first put to use to combat muscle wasting in cancer patients), so, I do wonder whether the sex of many/most of these XIX century Female boymoders was given away by Their voices, and was just one of those "don't ask, don't tell" open secrets.
I did not!
No need to ask what this "good looking fellow" was doing at the brothel to cause her to scuffle with him. I'm sure that's not news worthy.
This is fascinating. Good for her.

He came from thousands of miles away and was living there... fucking yikes. Self appointed pimp
Crazy to think that NYC had public transit buses in the early to mid XIXth century, but indeed they did
Absolutely loving the work you're doing here, OP. I've never seen these clips you're finding, and they are wonderful.
The striking thing to me is the lack of judgement in the writing. In fact, it seems the writer is elevating this woman - "as valiantly" - specifically for adopting male culture.
