Have you heard about the Trobairitz? : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trobairitz

The Trobairitz composed, wrote verses, and performed for the Occitan noble courts. They are exceptional in musical history as the first known female composers of Western secular music as all earlier known female composers wrote sacred music... The trobairitz were part of courtly society in the 12th and 13th centuries, active from around 1170 to approximately 1260....

Here is a song by one of them... The only known surviving one apparently... : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:A_Chantar2.ogg By the Comtessa de Dia possibly named Beatritz or Isoarda : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comtessa_de_Dia

For more info about them check also the Troubadour page on Wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troubadour

Trobairitz... Troubadour... Pretty cool words don't you think? I first learned about this word from video games haha! And now I did research about it and find out this gem! :) I wonder if any gamer here can guess which games I am talking about... XD
