Yes this is the “womanhood as defective maleness” construct.

LadyLabrysNative vaginaJanuary 13, 2024

I'm newer to radfem spaces and hadn't heard this idea before—that's so accurate and profound.

Welcome to our little corner!

I am VERY happy to be here <3

TSTat1400January 13, 2024

I have to say it's taken until being on this site that this concept is finally sinking in.

And what's the fallback option for their female counterparts who might be similarly "defacto excluded" from playing on girls' teams? I was a fat middle schooler and no one wanted me playing on their team. Males in female sports will make it even more difficult for the typically excluded girls to be chosen.

Idiot.

[Deleted]January 12, 2024

But you get to wear eyeshadow without being beaten up!!! Lucky you!!

DaphneJanuary 13, 2024

Same here, whenever we did teams in PE I was always chosen last. 😂 Guess I should have gone to the Strasbourg Court over the unfairness of it rather than accepting that that's life.

SadeyedladyJanuary 13, 2024

Same. In high school gym class, the other kids used to do that thing that I thought only happened in tv shows: “you can have her.” “No, YOU take her” etc 😂

shewolfoffranceJanuary 12, 2024

B-b-but men coddle you! You live life on easy mode! You're a gurl!

/s (obviously)

pennygadgetJanuary 12, 2024

Obviously, you should have been allowed to be on the kindergarten team or the Special Olympics.

HollyhockJanuary 12, 2024(Edited January 12, 2024)

Exactly.

HollyhockJanuary 12, 2024

So, it's okay then to push out the middle range average ability girls and the smaller, lower-average ability girls so the worst of the worst boys can play and feel good about themselves?

THIS was the EXACT argument a very smart friend of mine made. She has degrees up the wazoo and can debate most people under the table on a range of topics. Outside this topic, she is certainly a feminist. But wtaf is wrong when people like her can't figure out how they are, to quote another Ovarette, bending the knee to men while throwing girls under the bus?

BlackCirce🔮 🐖 🐖 🐖 🐖January 12, 2024

Some women feel like their highest calling in life is coddling men and it being at women’s expense is not an accident, it heightens the value. It’s like babying males doesn’t count if a woman or girl isn’t very visibly set aside or sacrificed.

samsdatJanuary 12, 2024

“See what I’ve done for you?! Won’t you love me back now?

pennygadgetJanuary 12, 2024

The sad irony is that highly educated women tend to be the worst pick-mes (especially regarding the trans issue). I think its because they tend to be insulated from the consequences of the bullshit they advocate for

samsdatJanuary 12, 2024

I also think it’s because they were often the most outcast in school and they have a rottenly soft spot for the people they perceive to be the underdog. The trans movement has done a wonderful PR job of presenting trans kids as the underdogs.

shewolfoffranceJanuary 12, 2024

The whole conversation around "inclusion" and "kindness" is so warped. Women should feel justified in putting their family and friends, and themselves first. They do not need to self-abnegate for every random pervert and loser who crosses their path.

samsdatJanuary 12, 2024

Hear, hear!!!

Alias_RosieJanuary 12, 2024

That's my mom's issue. She doesn't see the predatory aspects of the movement, and is all "just be kind!"

samsdatJanuary 13, 2024

I think it’s a very common misconception fueled by cognitive dissonance. If people, especially women, stop and see the predatory aspect, they unconsciously know that a lot of their illusions will come crashing down, and they can’t handle that. Combine that with the sunk cost fallacy, and these supporters are trapped.

RusticTroglodyteOliver Twist MuppetJanuary 13, 2024

Would she be willing to do a thought experiment?

Ask her how she'd feel in this scenario: She's on a road trip, it's 1130pm and she's at a rest stop, the big kind with a bunch of restaurants and stores, and the bathrooms are down a long hallway towards the back. She goes into the bathroom. It's huge and appears to be empty. She goes to a stall and sits, then the door opens.

She hears someone speak. How would she feel if the voice was feminine? How about masculine? Ask her to be honest and explain her answers.

LadyLabrysNative vaginaJanuary 13, 2024

That's a good one. Even she wasn't willing to admit how she felt outright, the doubt and the reality of how she really felt would no doubt creep in over time.

MegasaurusJanuary 14, 2024

Yep, it's a luxury belief. These women never depended on an athletic scholarship to go to college, they'll never be in prison or a homeless shelter. It's virtue signaling that costs them nothing and increases their own status among other elites. They dgaf if more vulnerable women are harmed.

TSTat1400January 12, 2024

Being someone who spent way too much time in academia (including PhD), I think it's the academic environment. I believe academia has had and continues to have a major hand in the development and pushing->acceptance pipeline for trans / gender ideology. It becomes a rarified environment and it's very, very easy to push department politics if you are loud about it.

Thankfully my PhD is in science/engineering, and the strong critical thinking skills are what got me to peak.

I've also got a smart friend who says the absolute stupidest shit in defense of this cult. I can't get her to see what complete nonsense it is. People are making such fools of themselves over this and there is nothing you can do

CaeruleaJanuary 13, 2024

Perhaps go the "listen to trans people!" route? Send her to r/mtf and the like, and let her read first-hand what they are saying themselves.

nopenottodayJanuary 13, 2024

She actually uses Reddit and engages with Tims on the regular and has complained to me even about how they've treated her, but she still doesn't get it! She still uses female pronouns for them and she still acts like they're women.

RusticTroglodyteOliver Twist MuppetJanuary 12, 2024

You ever show her the boxing/MMA tims?

nopenottodayJanuary 13, 2024

Yes I show her stuff like that, I show her all of that stuff, she just ignores it. It's like her brain is completely malfunctioning when it comes to trans topics. She just repeats the dogma and ignores everything I say

[Deleted]January 12, 2024

I got sexually harassed by an autistic foot fetishist at my school a few months ago.

When I went to report it, apparently this weirdo had been reported because the DEI department had asked a female student to "keep him company", because the autistic kid claimed to be afraid of men and liked women better. Obviously the demented freak ended up stalking her and following her into a bathroom at one point.

I was so sickened at how he had been essentially assigned an emotional support female, and after being creepy to several young women, they expected me to be understanding of his "condition".

CaeruleaJanuary 13, 2024

Of course he likes women better, everyone likes women better. That just means that men need to improve themselves.

I can't believe how they handled this situation, for both you and the other woman. He should be thrown out if he can't behave himself. No excuses. I don't care about his reasons.

SadeyedladyJanuary 13, 2024(Edited January 13, 2024)

They should’ve given him a tim. Trans women are women.

goodyusernameJanuary 13, 2024

He got an Emotional Support Woman? Don't tell the others

RadicalJanuary 13, 2024

Maybe the boys need to work on being more "inclusive".

Why aren't boys and men labelled exclusive, transphobic, bigoted, etc when women are called these things for the same reason?

sylviasmushroomsauthentic bagJanuary 12, 2024(Edited January 12, 2024)

You know what, I’m finally convinced. Trans girls truly aren’t like every other man.

They’re even MORE entitled and convinced of their own superiority and right to perks and privileges at the expense of women and girls.

shewolfoffranceJanuary 12, 2024

They absolutely are. They're possibly the worst men. The ones who are pounding down the door to the women's locker room are way worse than normal guys.

MegasaurusJanuary 14, 2024

They are definitely the worst men. Full of personality disorders, paraphilias and misogyny. Buffalo Bills.

RusticTroglodyteOliver Twist MuppetJanuary 13, 2024

I hate men and I'd rather be alone with two normal men than 1 tim

shewolfoffranceJanuary 13, 2024

Any woman with a shred of common sense would.

LizardQJanuary 13, 2024

There's a reason they are arrested for sex crimes at a statistically way higher rate than your average man.

[Warning: This is gonna be long bc I'm a Sports Mom of a boy who isn't great at sports.]

Too fucking bad. These teams aren't just run by roving gangs of little kids. If bullying is happening on boys teams, the adults need to intervene and work it out. Also, this situation is in no way unique to boys🙄 Girls can have the same issues.

My son has been involved in multiple sports since he was 5. He is now 8. These teams come in all types: most teach basic skills and everyone gets a chance to play. Some go by Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and you pick the team that matches your kids skill level. As they get older, things get more competitive and guess what, not everybody can play on every team. That's life, fucking deal with it. The solution is not to coddle little boys and stick them with the girls. The girls team is just as valid and important as the boys team and shouldn't be used as a catchall for little kids who suck at sports.

It's your job as a parent to get your kid involved in something they enjoy so they can grow and learn new skills and have fun. Sports ain't for everybody. My kid has fun, but isn't particularly athletic. By the time he's 11 or 12, he probably won't make all the teams he goes out for. We'll practice, he'll try his best and what happens, happens. I won't be putting him on the fucking girls team just bc he's not very good. How is that fair to the girls? They work hard too. They train, too. They compete for spots, too.

TL;DR: life ain't fair, shut the fuck up you misogynist piece of shit

shewolfoffranceJanuary 12, 2024

Note that sport is aKsHulLy about inclusion and belonging, rather than excellence, only when its being used to force girls and women to babysit mentally ill males.

It's ok if Lia Thomas swims on the women's team because it's really important to him to "stay competitive," but heaven help us if Riley Gaines points out how unfair that is.

shewolfoffranceJanuary 12, 2024

I think I might feel worst for the female athletes who train hard for events with relatively small awards and cash prizes in less popular sports, especially when it's adult men who worm their way into competitions with teen girls.

OverTheWallJanuary 13, 2024

Sounds like a fucking boys problem. Boys need to work their shit out instead of tossing the boys who feel they don’t fit in for the girls to deal with

OwnLyingEyesJanuary 12, 2024

Calls to mind that pretty consistently when women/girls make up/have about 30% of something and men/boys make up/have about 70%, a ton of people, especially men, seem to estimate that's when things are 'going too far' and women are 'taking over.' Estimating that things are 'about equal' seems to kick in for many at about the 10% mark. So I have no doubt that there are plenty of people who would think it was perfectly fair for boys to fill 100% of the spaces in male sports and 40% to 80% of the spaces in female sports; that as long as there are still token girls on the bench, it's 'equal.'

WitchPleaseJanuary 12, 2024

Should I demand a spot in the Paralympic Games, even though I'm able bodied, since I'm not good enough to play with my group?

BlackCirce🔮 🐖 🐖 🐖 🐖January 12, 2024

I want to play on the 6 year old basketball team and be Kobe Bryant and finally feel like a winner

HollyhockJanuary 12, 2024

It's never just one girl they replace, it's a trickle down effect so the young woman who didn't get the college scholarship now plays B squad. The woman who just missed the B squad plays intramural. The woman who just missed the intramural team because it's filled, now does nothing. For girls it's even worse, the girl who misses the Varsity team now plays JV, the girl who just missed the JV team now plays the B or lower squad, the girl who just missed the freshman team now feels utterly defeated at age 14 and doesn't play any more sports for the rest of her life and her health and happiness is impacted as a result.

I come from a long line of women who play sports (including my grandmother in the 1920s and 30s!!!) and my daughters and nieces play too. A few of us went on to very competitive leagues, but all of us benefited from the camaraderie, discipline, and very healthy physical activity that carries us through to our older years. I'm very pro-sports and pro-physical activity for women of all abilities because it helps us in many aspects of life.

The fucking TiMs can have all of this too if they so want it as long as they play by the same rules as EVERYONE ELSE: Play by your sex and no doping.

Oh fuck to the no.

pennygadgetJanuary 12, 2024

Not to mention all the girls who won't even bother to try out because they don't want to be trounced by drag queens. Or all the girls who will quit or forfeit because they don't want to share the locker room with boys

HollyhockJanuary 12, 2024

Or quit because they aren't allowed to change in front of boys (like the Muslim girls' school who forfeited a game in California)

[Deleted]January 12, 2024(Edited January 12, 2024)

The trans movement shows me every day the completely dehumanized way women are actually percieved

tamingthemindeh/ayyyyJanuary 13, 2024

Ugh this and your title especially also makes me think of the whole "men with disabilities should be entitled to buy sex with women" claim 🤢.

[Deleted]January 12, 2024

yes, makes sense, girlhood is obviously just a dumpster into which male children who fail to win sporting competitions against their male peers can-- nay, must be shoveled

operaghostJanuary 12, 2024

If you suck at sports but enjoy playing, join your local intramural league. Don't colonize the women's team.

[Deleted]January 13, 2024

Yep, or get a group of friends to go out and play with.

RusticTroglodyteOliver Twist MuppetJanuary 13, 2024

Exactly. Plus there are co-ed leagues! But tims aren't interested unless they're steam rolling over women's rights

GwenllianJanuary 12, 2024

I am so sick and tired of how society always expects women and girls to make sacrifices for everyone else. "You are too crap to get anywhere in men's sports? That's ok you can just say you are a woman and steal one of their scholarships and titles." "You are an incel because you can't be bothered to treat women as human beings? That's just fine, put on a dress, call yourself a transbian and harass lesbians and call them transphobic if they refuse you." The expectations by TRAs and MRAs of women are exactly the same. They both say "Bow down and shut up" It's time for us to give them all the finger and tell them to F off.

pennygadgetJanuary 12, 2024

Is she fucking serious!?

Girls sports doesn't exist to be a dumping ground for males who can't make the boys team for whatever reasons. And sport leagues for disabled people already exist

Also, what should girls do if they don't make the girls team due to disability or whatever? Colonize little league teams? Where does it end?

We need to be comfortable telling people that not everything needs to be inclusive to everyone. I'm five feet tall. Being on a basketball team was never an option for me. But you don't see me acting as if I'm oppressed because of it (or demanding to be placed on a kindergarten or wheelchair basketball team so I don't feel dwarfed by other players).

Only entitled men think being told "no" sometimes constitutes oppression

[Deleted]January 12, 2024

And when you put boys on girl's teams, even healthy athletic girls can't play with other girls their age. I'd say that's pretty shitty too.

Participation only matters for boys.

TheChaliceIsMightierDickPocket=/=VagJanuary 12, 2024

There are recreational sports you absolute dipshit, not every sport has tryouts and cuts

IdentifyAsTiredJanuary 12, 2024

Women are not disabled men.

Carrots90January 12, 2024(Edited January 12, 2024)

Ok

Let’s forget about girls for a second (just kidding, nobody was thinking about them in the first place, obvs)

Anyway this is a terrible idea because the boys will be mocked and bullied even worse if they are ‘so bad’ they are moved over to the girls team.

This won’t help the boys…it will actually just make them feel worse

Killer_DanishJanuary 13, 2024

Why are we constantly the dumping ground for males that the other males don’t want?!

No, we don’t want your cast-offs, men.

GenevieveJanuary 13, 2024(Edited January 13, 2024)

So, having a separate league for those boys is somehow not an option? I mean, if they really actually even wanted to play? Because they can be in league together, orrrrr, in no league at all. Is this what they think of women and women's sports?? Just an outlet for "lesser" players to play??

Demented.

ETA: What about the smaller girls, or the girls with disabilities? Do they get another league or is it all the same to them?? I can imagine those girls making their own team and somehow those boys will want access to that, too. All they want is access. Specifically, to places they don't belong!
