Welcome to Ovarit!

Here are some things you should know about the site:

Ovarit is a platform for separate communities called circles. Circles have different topics, but they also have different rules, different leadership (moderators), and different subscribers. Always check the rules for a circle before participating in that circle, rules can differ tremendously.

Users submit different kinds of content to circles as posts. Posts can be links, text, polls, or images. Some circles limit which kinds of posts can be made.

Posts that are “not safe for work” should be tagged NSFW. There is no pornographic content allowed on Ovarit, so here NSFW includes content that has nudity, or is sexual or violent in nature. You have a setting that controls whether or not you see NSFW posts in your feeds. By default, NSFW content is blurred on your feed and you need to click on it to see it.

You can subscribe to a circle to see posts from that circle in your feed when you go to the Ovarit front page, or unsubscribe from a circle so you don’t see it in that feed. If you go to the All or the New page you’ll see posts made to all circles on the site, but you can block a circle so you don’t see it on these feeds. You can see a list of all circles by clicking the “View all circles” button, and it shows you which you are subscribed to and which you have blocked. You're automatically subscribed to several “default” circles, but you should check the list for other circles you may want to subscribe to.

Each post has a comments section. If you want to respond to a specific comment, and not the post itself, make sure to hit the “reply” button below that comment. If you want to change your comment, use the “edit” button.

If someone responds to one of your comments, sends you a private message, or pings you, the envelope at the top-right of the site will have a number on it, indicating that you have unseen notifications. If you're on mobile, the "humburger" button at the top right reveals this menu as well as the sidebars for various pages on the site.

If you think a post or comment adds value to a circle, vote up on it. Please refrain from voting down on content just because you disagree with it. If content breaks the rules, please report it.

As more people vote up on your posts and comments, you’ll gain levels, which you can see in your profile. Certain features, like uploading images or generating invite codes, may be restricted to users based on level.

You must always follow the Sitewide Rules and the Terms of Service. Moderators also enforce Circle Rules in their circles, these can be found in the sidebar of each circle. We strongly recommend you read and follow the Sitewide Guidelines as well.
