Circles for Trans Widows and Detransitioned Women
Posted October 4, 2020 by strawberryfields4evr in Circles

Just wondered if it might be appropriate to have separate spaces for trans widows and detransitioned women. I know /r/detrans is still going on Reddit and there are threads for trans widows on Mumsnet (though I am not sure about the relationship there between radfem mums and the admins), but I wondered if it might be nice for them to each have a supportive, pro-women space here on Ovarit. Just a suggestion :)

I think we should definitely have a detransition circle. I've seen multiple posters mention that they're detransitioned or desisted. The Reddit sub is very active. but nothing on Reddit is safe. There are still people working to get it banned.

I'm amazed r/detrans hasn't been banned yet. There was some drama with a TRA mod (Bardfinn?) who tried to seize control of it, but the original mods have managed to keep it - for now. Eventually it will be taken over or disappear.

Mumsnet also bans GC women all over the place. TRAs are stalking and mass-reporting their posts. They even use web crawlers and databases to target posters. MNHQ gives in to them.

We really do need these circles.

I wonder, then, in light of everything on Mumsnet (also... I think /r/BabyBumps is not the best if memory serves) if a circles for radfem/gc parenting and pregnancy/childbirth might be worthwhile? In theory, Ovarit could be the ultimate female board and replace all the censored spaces for women across the internet with a radical feminist philosophy at the core.

edit: also I'd suggest circles for child-free women, separatism, things like that

Women’s health as well. Periods, PCOS, endometriosis all come under that.

Hi. I’m the OP of the Mumsnet Trans Widows threads and owner of www.transwidowsvoices.org

I’ve not really got to grips with Ovarit yet.

I’m not sure what you mean by “though I am not sure about the relationship there between radfem mums and the admins)”

But I’m happy to clarify if you explain?

Hi!!! I feel like I'm meeting a celebrity, haha. I was meaning that I wasn't sure if the website admins were supportive of your space or not. I check the women's right forum from time to time and it seems like other threads get deleted pretty often.

Yes they’re supportive. They seem to give us more leeway on support threads than they do on other threads.

I know someone in RL who could really do with a space like that. It's a good idea!
