I've always been the fat girl that absolutely dreaded running. So I was pretty surprised that recently one day I got the urge to just try it, I've been running for about a week now. I did it in pretty short intervals but I can for about 3-4 minutes now before needing to take a break and I'd love to be able to keep going for longer. I am still overweight/obese but have been on a journey since last year trying to change that.
I do ideally want running to help me lose weight but tbh I've actually really been enjoying how it makes me feel - while moving around the house I feel like I can move myself around much better than before, I feel like even my walk is stronger (as opposed to before where I kinda felt like I was dragging myself around), I even feel like I'm breathing better?
I'm trying not to get too crazy about it but I'm definitely enjoying it more than I thought I would considering how much I HATED it before. I was just wondering if anyone generally has any advice for weightloss with running, nutrition, shoes, etc. and just generally how to keep the momentum going. ETA: Also advice for safety. Right now I run in a park near my home during the day and I'd say it's incredibly safe, but that doesn't mean that can't change with the wrong person/I may even decide to try running elsewhere sometime, but I generally am preferring to run outdoors than on a treadmill.
In terms of safety, i'd say, if you can afford it, invest in a running watch which has safety features like live tracking and the ability to send an sos to a predefined contact if an incident occurs.
