If you think this looks like what we're seeing in the trans community (and by extension many neoliberal circles) you're not alone.

Definitely not alone! Funny timing about this. Was just reading through this post yesterday that also is (partly) framed around Singer's BITE model. I actually do agree with the author's conclusion that transgenderism does not qualify as a cult, due to lack of a clear Leader or Leaders that are also venerated, but that it certainly has a lot of cult like aspects & would qualify as a thought reform programme. Author mentions some may argue

Not all trans people are transgenderists. And not all transgenderists are trans people – in fact, most are not. Transgenderism is a separate thing from whatever it means to be trans. Transgenderism is not a state of being. It’s a political movement. . .

. . .‘Transgenderism’ plays on the feelings and deepest desires of trans people, and recruits them into an effort to persuade society to accept its two fundamental axioms: trans women are women, and sex work is work.

But this is just one component of the ‘woke’ thought-reform program, which aims to queer society to destroy and then rebuild it as a totalitarian system. But it’s all done with sugar and spice and all things nice – until you disagree with the management. Or, as I like to call them, The Great Penis Cult.

. . .6 Conditions for a Though Reform Environment

  1. Deception – Keep the subject unaware of the hidden agenda
  1. Destabilisation – Control the subject’s physical environment and ‘thinking time’.
  1. Dependency and Dread – Create a sense of powerlessness, anxiety and fear
  1. Disconnection – Suppress the old behaviour and attitudes
  1. Developing the Cult Pseudopersonality – Elicit new behaviour and attitudes
  1. Denial and Dedication – Maintain a closed system of logic and restrict criticism.
