Watching an old season of Project Runway. In the first episode, they are figuring out who will sleep where in the apartment. There is a woman who says, "I'm Muslim, so I'd prefer no men in this room," because, naturally, a man is trying to take one of the beds.
Before he can say anything, a different woman jumps in and asks him if he's straight. He's all, "Me? Straight? Hell no!" to which this woman goes, "See? So there's no problem."
She just overrode the Muslim woman's wishes and gave consent to this man to violate this woman's privacy.
WTF????
Then, naturally, 5 minutes later one of the models admits he's a TIM (as if we couldn't tell) and the designer working with him goes bonkers fawning over him and calling him a "Goddess" over and over. Puke!
Ffs it’s just pathetic. Changing in front of any strange man is off-putting at best, regardless of his sexual orientation. As for women fawning over TIMs...just funny really because they’d never heap such OTT praise on actual women.
Handmaiden instructional guide:
“Goddess” when the dude looks like slenderman in drag.
“Gorgeous” when the dude looks like a stubbed toe.
“Slayyy Queen” when the dude looks like an unfortunate combination of both.
Bonus points for a “yasss” and even better if you bemoan your own appearance in order to big him up e.g “yasss queen, slaaaayyy! You look sooo gorgeous, your eyeliner is so much better than mineee, I’m sooo jealous! Omgg! 🙌🙌🙌”
Lurking TIMs: women don’t talk to each other this way. It is no more than pity and virtue signalling. You are likely not “gorgeous” and almost certainly do not pass.

IT'S SLENDERMA'AM!!!!

So true. Even genuinely gorgeous women don't get fawned over the way TIMs do. Women only talk this way to young children and/or people we pity
Always the self capitulation.
"You're so much more beautiful and feminine than I could ever be! I'm just a hag!"
Don't worry, sis. He already thinks that about you. He doesn't think you're woman enough because you aren't a one-dimensional caricature of a ladyperson like him.
Hahaha
🤣
This reminds me of when someone described a TIM as:
“He looks like if I dressed my big toe up as Cinderella”
Lol, as a generalisation they certainly are an unfortunate looking bunch...that on top of the inherent dishonesty and misogyny makes for a very ugly human being, inside and out!
No woman should be forced to change in front of a man, you would think she, a fellow woman, would understand that!
What year was this episode?
Season 17 from 2019. There's also a contestant who is unfortunate enough to be named Kovid (pre-Covid).
2019....checks out.
I was asking because I noticed that trans blew up around 2013-14, and I would've been shocked if it was before that time.
I would feel uncomfortable being nude in front of a male... Regardless of sexual orientation a male is a male! I would feel more comfortable being nude in front of a lesbian than a gay male...!
Me too. I don't know. I have a friend who, when I told her about how outrageous I find it that women and girls are expected to undress in front of a male and have him undressed in front of women and girls, said: "but why not, actually? I mean, what's if that a lesbian? What's the difference?"
Huge difference! It's not the same at all. For me, first and foremost it's about the similarities and differences of our bodies (women have the same body parts, men have the same body parts); and second, it's about the male gaze and everything that comes with it, and how dangerous males are for women and girls.
Call me old fashioned or conservative or whatever, but I can't get over more than 30 years of socialization teaching me that you don't undress or be naked in front of the other sex unless this is your romantic/sexual partner, or unless you are interested in engaging in sexual act, or unless we are talking about very small children/babies (I suppose different cultures can have other exceptions as well, but mine doesn't). Nor do I see any advantage in going against this socialization, when we take into account the danger men pose to women and girls, and knowing about society's tendancy to blame the woman/girl when something (sexual harassment, rape) happens.
I don't feel uncomfortable in front of lesbians. It's not just who is attracted to whom, what sex you are attracted too. It's about the fact that I know a lesbian woman has boobs and volva just like me and isn't going to get all sexually excited and have a boner just by gazing at my naked boobs and volva. Males look at women (and teenage girls, and sometimes even girls) differently than women look at women - even lesbians. Women most likely are not going to have the same degrading thoughts about another woman's body and objectify her the same way a man does. That's just reality.
And also: men are a lot more likely to sexually attack me and rape me than women (I personally never heard of a stranger woman attacking another woman sexually without a male accomplice); only men can get me pregnant; and unless I know the woman I wouldn't know she is a lesbian, but I sure as hell know a male is a male.
I hate the "what about lesbians" argument. In addition to the simple fact that we have the same parts, lesbian sexuality doesn't work like male sexuality. Lesbians don't get a thrill simply from seeing random women naked in places like locker rooms. Locker rooms are not sexy places for ANY woman. So I have no reason to feel uncomfortable or violated because a lesbian changed in the same room with me
I have no issues changing in front of a lesbian either.
Women don’t ’take’ sex like men do. They aren’t going to feel sexually for a naked woman who isn’t consensually offering herself to them
It’s men who peep and perv and get off on seeing women naked without consent
I’ve never tried to see naked men without their consent, even in my horniest years. I’d be even more careful with a woman because I understand violation and feeling hunted
Arrrrg i just started that season this week and that scene startled me too. I was like... OK so you just gave away that Muslim lady's consent???
And the muslim didn't blow up and want both the idiots out? or did they cut at that point.
Also that TIM model is SO OBVIOUSLY A MAN.
Steel yourself as you watch that season. If you think that first episode fawning over him is bad.... just you wait. The Indian contestant is THE WORST fawning type of gay man. I honestly just wanted to slap him.
Watching this now and came back to the thread to say: I hate Kovid! He’s such a whiny crybaby, I can’t stand it. I just came to the episode where they kicked him out and I couldn’t be more relieved. One of the most annoying contestants on the series.
Of course the needs/boundaries of a Muslim woman took a back seat to a TIM. I guess racial sensitivity goes out the window when a man in a dress needs validation
