I'm so fucking sick and tired of hearing how feminism is a cancer ruining society when A) half the bullshit MRAs complain about is a direct consequence of patriarchal society and B) they have such ridiculous double standards for male and female behavior.
Please, tell me again how it's sooo unfair that men don't get custody of children as often as women do, when patriarchal society decided in the first place that raising a child was a woman's job only. Men act so shocked when their only contribution towards the raising of their child is financial support, and then aren't granted 50/50 custody once their marriage breaks down.
Please tell me more about how female-only scholarships and science-related opportunities are unfair to men when women have been told for CENTURIES that we don't need higher education, and pushed out of science and STEM related jobs by male harassment and toxicity.
Please keep asking why women have the "privilege" of "masking their appearance" with makeup and men don't, when it was men who decided that a woman had to wear makeup and look attractive in order to be accepted in society and keep a job, but men could adhere to any standard of grooming and still be respected.
Please complain about how men are judged for dressing "like women", when patriarchal society decided that being female or even feminine was inherently degrading.
Don't get me wrong, I believe that feminism is for the benefit of women first and foremost, and any potential benefits that come to men as a result are unintentional side effects. But I'm sick of hearing the same regurgitated MRA arguments about how feminism is the eeevil boogeyman taking away men's rights, when pretty much all of their complaints can be traced back to cultural norms created in a patriarchal society.
I always eat oatmeal (boring but tasty)
I bring approximately 3/4 oat milk to a boil, add approximately 1/2 cup oats, cook until there is a small amount of liquid left around the oats (usually 5 minutes). If correctly done this will usually be a little thinner than pudding when it cools.
I then mix in pecans, blueberries (or other fruit), cinnamon, maple syrup, and chia seeds.
I love this dish because it’s easy, healthy, and keeps me full for a long time.
Blueberry oatmeal is such a banger. You just reminded me I have a new canister of oats 😎
Pick Up Limes has some amazing recipes for breakfast: https://www.pickuplimes.com/recipe/?sb=breakfast&meal_type=7&total_time=&sort_by= She's a vegan dietician.
My absolute favourite is Black Forest Overnight Oats, though I use the equivalent amount of steel cut oats cooked briefly instead of rolled oats. Really good. The Blueberry Muffin Overnight Oats are delicious, too.
I hate a lot of preparation in the mornings though, so I normally just do crunchy peanut paste on wholemeal toast if I can't do the prep nigh before. This is why the overnight oats are so good.
Oatmeal that I don't cook but steep in oat milk in the fridge overnight, topped by frozen cherries that have defrosted in the fridge overnight.
I always crack up when I eat my oatmeal with oat milk.
Hahah, that's great.
My dream is to make an all-chickpea pizza. Chickpea flour crust, hummus, topped with falafel and roasted chickpeas.
That...actually sounds bomb AF. Give me the recipe if you ever make it!
I am scared at this point that it will never live up to the dream ;)
Chickpeas can't go wrong! Though I wonder if you could make some kind of baked falafel crust...mmmmmm
Fried mushrooms and fried tomatoes with a side of toast toasted in avocado oil. Salted hash browns.
Rice with oil, chives, tomatoes, sesame, seaweed, mushrooms.
Who says it has to be American breakfast?
That remind me of being back in Ireland: sautéed tomatoes and mushrooms on toast.
Lazy is sprouted grain English muffin with flax oil and salt (tastes like butter! get your Omega 3s), or just reg ww English muffins. Smash with black berries on top if fancy. You can also top with PB and maple/banana
Love a tofu scramble. Upgrade it to breakfast tacos with corn tortillas and salsa, or for super elaborate, migas, with refried beans, enchilada sauce, etc.
Oatmeal with PB and banana.
Sweet potato with PB, banana (and cinnamon!). It is amazing.
I have a recipe for tempeh, potato, and Brussel sprout hash that I always cook for company. (or other potato/sweet potato hashes)
Avocado toast.
Breakfast Quinoa My wife eats this (she makes her own walnut milk) and it's pretty tasty. Add rice too and cook it all together.
Oh, I forgot about this! I used to go to a restaurant that served quinoa with almond milk topped with berries. It was great.
I like making these savoury pancakes called cheella. They are basically like an Indian omelette and are also a great source of protein. Here is a recipe that uses chickpea flour: https://www.vegrecipesofindia.com/besan-cheela-recipe-besan-chilla/#wprm-recipe-container-135656
If you don't have chickpea flour, oats also work really well. Just soak some oats in water and add your fave chopped veggies and spices in the batter.
I also love having smoothies. There are two types I make. One is with whatever frozen fruits I have at home plus 1 spoon of rose water. The other smoothie is plant milk + cocoa powder + 2 dates + peanut butter.
Also, one tip for chia pudding, make sure you properly chew it. You can also make the pudding with ground chia seeds. Doing this will help your body better absorb its nutrients too.
Alsooo +1 to the other comment that said oats with peanut butter and bananas. So good. Tofu scramble is great too.
Edit: typo
I have always wanted to make "chickpea flour omelettes" (as I know them in my head!)
How do you sub the oats? What kind?
I think any oats should work although the instant rolled oats would be smoother and easier to work with compared to say steel cut oats.
Just take a bowl, add oats and then add some water. It should be thick batter consistensy. A lot of recipes suggest you grind up the oats into a flour (I am lazy so I never do that and the dish still comes out fine for me).
When you are making it for the first time, you can even test out a tiny pancake size one on your pan first to decide whether your batter's consistensy was right (or whether you need to add more oats or more water).
Sometimes, if you aren't careful, when you are trying to flip it over on the pan, the cheella/omelette does break. So I just end up making it like a scrambled egg 🤣.
Also pro-tip: adding "kaala namak" salt and some turmeric makes it very egg-like in a way that even many non-vegans like it. The brand Just Eggs totally got inspired by these Indian cheellas. They use moong beans as their base. So, you can try that too if you want (you'll need to soak the moong beans overnight and then grind them into a purée).
I like making breakfast sandwiches with Just Egg patties. My favorite way to do it is to mash 1/4 avocado, mix in finely chopped chives, and use that as a spread for your toasted bread. Add vegan cheese (Chao creamy original is great here) and veggie bacon (anything crispy and unsweetened) if you have them. It's goddamn delicious.
I'm low carb so I have a bag or 100g of nuts plus a giant mug of cocoa (1 tsp cocoa powder, 2 tablets stevia or other plant-based sweetener, 1 dash zero carb almond milk, plus boiling water). I usually have almonds, walnuts, or hazelnuts. Delicious
On weekends make eggless french toast with banana
Blend an old banana and the milk of your choice in a blender with cinnamon
Soak stale bread in it
Pan fry in oil or the butter of your choice (there are vegan butters)
Serve with nut butter, maple syrup or jam, and fruit
Cereal, oatmeal, if you're feeling fancy you can make vegan pancakes or waffles. Generally you just replace the egg with banana for those (as well as replacing the cow milk with plant milk obviously.)
Also bagels, English muffins, crumpets, bread in general, hash browns... as well as stuff like peanut butter, fruit, avocado...
I'm kinda a zombie in the morning so it's usually just a bag of nuts (pecans, peanuts, walnuts, or almonds, usually) and cocoa (teaspoon cocoa powder, stevia tablet, boiling water, and a dash of almond milk).
Sometimes I have it together and soak a quarter cup of chia seeds in 250ml overnight, then add stevia and cocoa powder and peanut butter to make a smoothie.
Sometimes I think I need carbs and I have wholemeal toast with peanut or almond butter, plus tea.
Recently I made these keto breakfast biscuits, veganised and they are great.
