I joined a kinda famous culty gym (it's not a gym; it's more of a set of circuits. I don't know what else to call it) in January. I'm seeing results, not as fast as I'd liked, but I feel my legs and thighs getting toned and stronger. For April, I want to lift heavier weights and do more upper body work. My upper body is so weak compared to my legs. Also, so far no pervy men at this gym, and it's mostly women.

I've been focusing on upper body strength daily and it's beginning to show results. My arms are starting to look good.

I started riding (road bike) for the season in mid March, but the weather was bad this weekend and I didn't go. However, my bike got a major overhaul, partly at the shop and partly by me. So I am extremely excited to go out. I am hoping maybe tomorrow afternoon I can quit work early and go ride.

Wanted to go on a hike on Sunday, but every service provider for dog sitting was closed for Easter. I'll be out to travel for the eclipse next weekend, so next chance to go up into the mountains is April 12. I fear it may be muddy, but who cares! I am also hoping we can start on single overnight backpacking trips for the season soon while we wait for the higher elevations to melt out.

I hiked about 6 miles this weekend! I plan on doing more in the future. Woohoo!

It sounds relaxing. Level ground or up in the mountains?

I've been doing reasonably well since I first posted my goals here, with 3 to 4x a week at the gym @ 2 hours. I've tried to add some jogging to my fast walking and built to a 15 min mile. I know many here will find that slow, but for a 60 yr old menopausal overweight woman with an autoimmune disease, I'll take it. Weight lifting is where I am really marking progress. I can even do 10 reps of lat pull downs at 85 lbs. That is a lot more than most women I see use that machine. I start with 150 crunches but I wish I could see more progress on my waistline. Also I need to get back to my yoga classes. I have no excuse; I've made it so I can take at least 2 free per week. With the weather turning nice I'll be able to be on my bike this month. I'd like to lose lbs; so far I've only really made a dent with inches. It's kind of disappointing. I've cut out chocolate but still struggle with cutting calories even though I eat well.

I read this yesterday and am still mulling it over with regards to my my fitness goals.

April started of really well. I just finished my Round 4 ride for the Zwift Big Spin riding up and down the virtual Champs Elysees. And according to the stats, I had my highest 30 minute power output ever. It's the third time I've done that in the last week. I'm really starting to feel like I'm in the groove. :-)

My April goal is to NOT let my allergies and a hectic work schedule set me back.

You're a real champ on the virtual Champs Elysees!

I've been doing Orange Theory Fitness and have been really enjoying it. It's just the right amount of challenging HIIT without seeming to be designed by a bunch of roided out maniacs.

I wanna start running again in between classes though. I'd like to have at least six miles a week down, outside of class. Writing this down to keep myself honest.

Six miles - a mile a day x 6 days?

LoudmouthLisaApril 2, 2024

I tend to do two miles at a time, so more like two days of OTF, three days of running, two days of taking it easy a week.

That makes sense! Enjoy the training!

I have a race at the end of this month. My goal is to beat my PR on a 5K. Not sure that will happen for this race with the way my training has been going, but there are plenty of races in the summer and fall. I had a slow start and then I had the flu or something a couple of weeks ago. I haven't focused on shorter races in years.

Good luck on your end-of-month 5K!
