Does anyone else notice how the so called "lgb/t" networks don't really talk about homophobia anymore? Everything is either LGBTQ- or "queer"phobia and everyone, even if it's more specifically LGB, lesbian, or gay men, are always called LGBTQ people. I was reading an article about the recent shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado to find not a single mention of homophobia, not even an acknowledgement of sexual orientation. They made it all about trans issues and of course had to say, "oh trans women of color the most targeted group". I don't deny that gnc gay black men aren't targeted but I hate how it's used to dismiss what we face on a whole (like it's not really a problem). People in that nightclub died because the shooter hates LGB people but no, the real hate is not wanting men in women's spaces or making it illegal for people to obtain unneccessary treatments and surgeries. Who cares if gay men still get targeted on subways and streets? If lesbians worry about being attacked or r*ped and now fear being told by men we turn down 'oh I id as a woman'? Nah, not getting your way is the real problem here. 🙄

It's almost like at some points trans-IDing straights don't want to pretend they face homophobia, just "lgbtq/queerphobia", but they also don't want homophobia to be talked about - probably because they don't want THEIR homophobia to be brought up. But now they try to dip what happened on us like it's our fault for speaking out against their bullshit. It's so messed up.

You're right in all points, this was homophobia. it was another violent man commiting an atrocity, maybe if these men were actually held accountable for these terrorist attacks there would be change. Instead each instance is treated like an individual thing.

They're also already trying to blame women for the attack. AOC says connect the dots between anti LGBT campaigns and this attacks, as if women's rights are the reason, as if us wanting safe spaces away from men and to stop the child transing is the cause. This was male violence and homophobia. Everything has to be about them though.

Shut the fuck up. Yet another MAN targeted the GAY community, and this is somehow OUR fault for peacefully protesting for sex-based rights?! Jesus, even there is absolutely no way to blame women, other women still blame women.

And if they actually listened to women/cared about women-- this male would probably have not been in a situation to commit this attack. He'd be in jail or at the very least not able to aquire a gun.

I have seen a number of people throughout social media talking EXCLUSIVELY about trans, queer, and non binary people in reference to the latest shooting, barely an utterance of the word "gay", and naturally not a single fucking peep about lesbians because to hell with us, right?

They don't care about the rights and safety of gay people. All they care about is riding our coattails and crashing into where they don't belong and are unwanted like the fucking Koolaid man.

Everything is about them.

We could be talking about how monarch butterflies are an endangered species and they'd say "but we're endangered too!!!"

Lmao the koolaid guy comment. Yeah, they really don't care and it's so transparent at this point that I hope other people will get it.

I noticed the same thing happening after the Orlando nightclub shooting. It was rare to find even mention of the word "gay", only "queer" and "trans", with many news articles spinning it as a crime based on "transphobia".

“Trans” are virulent homophobes, of course they won’t talk about it.

They have to pretend that there are no other social issues left aside from transphobia and racism because otherwise, no one would take them seriously. And they only acknowledge racism so that white people on Twitter can play a race card that doesn't even belong to them by bringing up "poor black transwomen". This whole "transphobia" thing is about latching on to and taking attention away from actual issues whether it be homophobia (transwomen are more oppressed because lesbians won't date them), racism (if black women are women, then so are transwomen), sexism/misogyny (transmisogyny is worse because straight men won't date them since they have/had a penis and women won't acknowledge them as being biologically female because of said penis). All they do is make EVERYTHING about them.

Yes. There's more content about "biphobia" against people in het relationships than homophobia. And by biphobia I mean people complaining that lesbians don't want to date bi women or that the evil gays say bi people aren't gay enough.

I kinda live with the not gay enough. But that is not a hate crime, some lesbians are never gonna be happy about a woman sexual history, while saying free yourself, be a lesbian! For the most part is better that way, you are skipping a relationship with someone with internalized self hate.

It's hypocritical really, they can't have it both ways either women should convert to lesbianism (with a heterosexual history) or they lesbians can keep fishing for the more lesbian lesbian never ever touched by a man.

Which gets creepy. We all know which lesbians are like that and are teens, is mysoginistic (assigns value based on sex) and shows some paedophilic tendencies.

That's the extent of it. No lesbian commit other hate actions.(Usually or 99%) Lesbians aren't men.

either women should convert to lesbianism

Who is even saying that? We know sexuality can't be changed, we don't want to convert anyone. That's a hateful stereotype. We can't even stand the political lesbians' bullshit.

What? Specially the last part, what the hell are you talking about?

The reason some of us don't want to date bi women is not because we think you are "dirty" or whatever you believe. It's because we feel alienated and isolated in a world that worships men and we want to find someone who can understand us. A bi woman will never know what it's like to live in patriarchy when you have zero interest in men.

You as a mature woman thinks so maybe bc you don't asign machist value like them? But some do think we are dirty, or less, or sold out or crazy for 🍆 and say so.

I have very few interest to get in lesbian spaces after being aware of how some lesbians refer to bisexual women and how most lesbians tolerate it/refuse to see it, but I still defend your spaces and your right to not have men in them. I don't even want in now. I just don't think it's even all healthy for me, or bisexuals.

We can't scape the patriarchy either and wont even say it's even discrimination, most of those interactions are just more casual misogyny which is like nothing new.

Agree with you op.

One local secondary school has an lgbt+ policy that is all about the t.

Just got my kids schools RSE policies sorted out that seemed fairly successfully but now the bullying policy reference to homophobia is all tq++++

Am pulling my hair out and sick of needing to waste energy on this bs. Which must feel much more frustrating for the lgb women and men.

My local news in houston wrote an article and it only talked about a TIF that was killed. No mention of homophobia or any of the other victims.
