RantTIMs in tech
Posted December 9, 2022 by Tulip in GenderCritical

I just need to vent a bit. It's not easy to be interested in technical subjects as a woman. It seems to be rare for girls to get encouragement and support to pursue STEM fields. A lot of women get into tech at an older age than men, who get the push and social acceptance from a young age.

So I just came across this tech TIM, who was semi-passing on a screen (the jaw gave him away a bit, so I looked it up). He played a clip of his "past" where he got into trouble for hacking, and his past self was imagined as this very beautiful teenage girl. When in reality, he was a male nerd who transitioned as an adult.

He was super egotistical, and very openly talked about his relationship with a woman in a way that just is off for women. Like, he never faced the sexism, belittlement and lesbophobia that women face, and now he's just parading himself around as a "woman" in tech. He can be buddy buddy with straight men, because he is one.

Many of the woman-attracted women I've known have had intense trauma around the attraction towards other women, because they grew up as girls and had to deal lesbophobia when we are most vulnerable. Then there's these TIMs who go around appropriating womanhood and lesbianism, and equating themselves with a struggle they have no idea about. I frigging hope I don't have to encounter these guys in an IRL professional setting, that would be too much.
