Listening to my local CBC Radio "All Points West" last night (for Vancouver Island BC). The host Jason D'Souza was carefully saying things like "pregnant people" (but also maternity care, which was weird). The guest, the president of the Doctors of BC, Joshua Greggain, just ignored all of that, repeatedly referring to women, mothers, mothers and babies, moms etc.
BC has gone very far down the 'birthing bodies' route, and it is where Amy Hamm is under investigation for her GC beliefs, so it was really refreshing to hear a logical voice discuss the need for women to get proper maternity care through their pregnancy and birth.
To his credit, D'Souza never corrects Greggain, but can't quite bring himself to do the same, at the end saying "what should someone who finds themselves in this situation do"? Instead of just saying, "what should women who are newly pregnant do", but Greggain just barrels on. I suspect the new language standards have been pretty heavily stressed at the CBC.
