Not corporations with the rainbow flag plastered over their logo. I’m talking about smaller online communities (such as Discord servers) incorporating it into their icons.
Sometimes the server moderators actually make the flag look somewhat pleasing in a way, with toned-down rainbow colors that actually fit the previous icon. A lot more often, the colors clash with the original icon and look out of place. I’ve seen mostly plain gay rainbow flags, but occasionally there’s one with the black and brown stripes, and more rarely, a trans flag tacked on.
Aesthetics aside, I think most of the people running these communities have good intentions, but nine times out of ten, it ends up being about the TQ more than the LGB. I’ve already seen one particular community dole out punishments to a few people today for questioning the icon change and sharing their opinions on transgenderism, which, to the staff, are the wrong opinions.
I am curious what your thoughts are on communities doing this as opposed to corporations - especially from lesbian and bisexual women.
