DiscussionToday, Spain peaked a little

There's been a lot of controversy on Twitter regarding what happened a couple of days back in a supermarket (Lidl).

The female cashier called a TIM "sir", and he got so offended he proceded to use his Twitter account to report this tragic, transphobic event (including the details of where and when this woman was working so she could get doxxed, I guess...?).

The account belongs to a small trans rights association, therefore the use of plural nouns and the TIM being referred to as "president". Here's what he said in a couple of tweets, traslated by yours truly:

We just witnessed an act of transphobia, the cashier from Lidl in Armengual de la Mota in Málaga who was working around 10:00/12:00 AM today (21/06/2023) called our president Cristina "sir" several times.

Second tweet is the funniest:

The cashier from Lidl used in several occasions the word "sir", even though it should've been obvious from the clothes and the rainbow bracelet that she was talking to a trans person. We've already reported the incident. No more violence met with silence.

The TIM has been interviewed both on TV and radio (wearing headphones with pink cat ears, of course). He said he wouldn't mind giving some talks in supermarkets from the Lidl chain to raise awareness about trans issues (he also said he wouldn't mind getting paid for those talks).

Oh, and by the way, the cashier apologized for her mistake, but according to Cristina: "it wasn't sincere enough".

Fast forward to today, and the hashtag "#EsUnPutoHombre" (he's a fucking man) is trending on Spanish Twitter. Thousands of people (including many GC feminist accounts) are warning Lidl they won't be buying anymore of their products if they fire the cashier who called Cristina "sir" and calling the TIM a misogynistic bully.

Lidl has made the decision to not fire the cashier.

A small step out of the cult, I guess.

(sorry if the grammar and phrasing is a little weird, as you might guess English is not my first language)
