QuestionWe need a word!
Posted July 3, 2023 by Sonnet in GenderCritical

Ladies, does this already exist? I think it’s time.

We do need to generate a clear, expressive word or short phrase to describe the phenomenon when a male person explicitly perpetuates or participates in sexism against women in order to further his own claim to womanhood.

This is the guy who claims women are jealous not to dilate a neovagina because then we would be “brand new.” This is twirly-skirt and boobie-jiggle euphoria. This is rape threats and fantasies of violence against “terfs.” This is telling women that compassionate support of male feelings is a blanket moral imperative, but concerns about their own safety and comfort are hysterical misunderstandings. We need a term that expresses not only sexism or misogyny itself, but also the irony and hypocrisy of self-defeating sexism coming from those who would assert a unique claim to womanhood by participating in the ugliest patterns of male behavior.

We need to demonstrate how reliably this thinking is regressive without having to write a dissertation on each example. If we don’t have crisp language for the phenomenon, we can’t point it out to the point that we might disrupt the discourse. But affirming sexist tropes and dominating women in historically tried-and-true ways is central to the discourse. It is too ubiquitous not to describe. Sexism is implicit in the entire paradigm of transgender ideology, yes…ergo we need a short, derisive way to communicate “yawn: another male person engaging in stereotypically male behavior, this time with the superficial twist of claiming womanhood.”

I think if an easy, ideal term were available, we might already have it…but we need a label for this. Calling it sexism isn’t meaningful because the term is too broad and not enough people care. Likewise “appropriation”: too broad, not precise. We need a way to point out the pattern of habitual contradiction that reveals the underlying sexism.

What do we call this?

I’d consider calling it something like o/childsafeguarding because that would encompass things that aren’t necessarily blatantly pedophilic at first glance, such as YT channels that groom (like KontraPricks).

I like this. maybe /o/safeguarding?

milpathecatMarch 24, 2021

That's very good.

I vote against o/thepedoconnection and for something like o/antipedophilia or o/antipedo. Maybe it could encompass being against pedo apologism as well as downright activism?

Yeah, the name needs to cover all bases, I agree.

I vote for o/antipedos and would for sure be an active user

Not to be confused with the antipodes, which are perfectly respectable spots on the globe.

Admins never listen to us wanting new circles. I’m starting to lose hope at this point :/ :(

I think we're supposed to come up with the rules and the mods and then post here.

Anticreeps, perhaps?

I support a circle about outing pedo's, but I agree with /u/RawSienna about changing the name to something like /o/safeguarding
