Well, not really near you, considering this is happening in Finland and most of you live in America. I stumbled upon an article saying that a certain domestic brand here has started producing and distributing tampons marketed for men. https://www.voice.fi/ilmiot/a-227807(https://www.voice.fi/ilmiot/a-227807) Here's the translated article for anyone interested:
This week, men's tampons are hitting the stores - a significant topic behind it.:
The strong gendering of menstruation can also cause a sense of alienation towards one's own body.
A long-awaited novelty has arrived on the store shelves this week. The Finnish menstrual protection company Vuokkoset has introduced a tampon designed for men, marketed under the name "For Men."
This is a campaign with an important message. Gender is not so binary that we can think only women menstruate. Vuokkoset aims to break down stigma and show that many individuals identifying as men or non-binary may also experience menstruation.
For example, trans men may still have periods at the beginning of hormone replacement therapy, even if they later stop. However, not all trans individuals want hormone therapy, and for them, menstruation may continue as before.
In its press release, Vuokkoset expresses a desire to break down the gendering of menstrual products. Studies show that, for instance, trans men may experience strong body dysphoria, feelings of anxiety or alienation towards their own physical bodies, related to menstruation. It is essential that those who need any type of protection can obtain it without experiencing shame about their bodies.
Human rights educator, DEI consultant, speaker, and LGBTQ+ specialist Dakota Robin, who has undergone a gender transition, serves as an expert and face of the campaign. His experience as a trans man also highlights how menstrual products are distinctly branded for women. "I remember how, when I was young, periods felt not only strange but somehow wrong. The entire world of menstruation was alien, from how the products looked to where they were found in the store and how they were talked about in the media. In our culture, menstruation is strongly linked to femininity, which does not recognize the diversity of menstruating individuals," he says in the press release.
The campaign is part of the international Trans Awareness Week.
Now this mostly concerns trans men, which are basically just women and not as dangerous/problematic as the trans women. However, I still find it immensely insulting how especially in the overprogressive countries like mine womanhood keeps being undermined and erased in favor of delusional freaks. This is absolute madness. There is no "menstruating people" nor "diversity", it's women and ONLY women.
