Meet Artemis.
She is a therapist, which is great. Great, great, great.
A TIF who came out as a lesbian at 28, then transitioned when her friends pointed out to her that the way she does things is manly.
How is she masculine? Well, she's very logical and analytical.
This is something I've noticed in a lot of TIFs when they're claiming they're really men. They're like Mr. Spock- not given to flights of fancy and hysterics like women are. đ
I'm not sure about that- TIFs are so highly distressed and emotional that they destroy their bodies to kinda sorta somewhat look like men.
Like a lot of late transitioners, Artemis does not believe she was exposed to any kind of social contagion because she wasn't on Reddit or Tumblr the way young girls are. She ought to know as a therapist that the internet is not the only means of social contagion. Anorexia and bulimia spread just fine without it. When she came out as a lesbian and entered "queer" circles, that was the source of the social contagion for her. Transgenderism began before the internet existed, and spread in real life. She's not the only one- Scott Newgent was brainwashed by her therapist. When Buck Angel transitioned and became a celebrity over it, many other women in lesbian circles followed her example.
So I'm not sure that Artemis is rock solid on analytical thinking, either. Certainly not skepticism.
She makes up scenarios (15:50) where maybe she has some microscopic genetic mutation that makes her invisibly intersex.
"We don't know how the brain works."
Yeah, we should research gender remote viewing. Time for a paradigm shift. đ
As she describes her childhood, she basically describes the same things I used to do. Like reading encyclopedias and analyzing animals in particular. I literally did the same thing. This is another problem with TIFs where they view their common childhood behaviors as highly unusual and sparklingly unique. But no, that's very common for kids. Both girls and boys. "Every girl was a cheer leader but me."
What bothers me about the whole "science should be open-minded" line is that no, it shouldn't be. It should be skeptical, and demand proof. It should only address falsifiable claims. It's not about viewpoints, sentiments, or attitudes.
Artemis admits that none of her experiences in and of themselves mean she's a man. So why is she citing them? Is she saying that all of them put together make her a man?
Like many bullshitters who are a little too close to the reality they don't want to admit, Artemis rambles. She leaves a lot of ideas open with "maybe" and "what if."
She can't fully explain whether or not it's ethical to transition.
Let me give an analogy. Is there ever good health reason to smoke? If a tobacco company owner said "well.....that depends on your personal goals. The ancient Native Americans viewed smoking as medicinal and spiritual. And there's just so much about the body we don't know......"
You'd immediately know this person was bullshitting you. There is no good reason to smoke tobacco, period. It offers no health benefits, or even if it does, the damage far outweighs anything good you'd get out of if. If you got some trace vitamin from it, you'd do better just eating a carrot.
So no, I don't see any evidence that TIFs are "more logical" and "analytical" the way they so frequently claim. Just the opposite, really. They tend to be naive and gullible. I would even argue superstitious. They interpret everyday, ordinary events as signs and wonders.
I don't care if she claims that she doesn't push her clients into transition. She's modeling it, and claiming it was awesome for her. She's like the car salesman who knows when to take off the pressure to avoid being off-putting. Frankly, she should be at the point where she's telling her clients actively not to pursue transition. It destroys your health over time, you do not have the mind of the opposite sex, you won't pass, and it's just not worth it.
