QuestionFormer TRAs: Which TRA arguments captured you?
Posted January 23, 2024 by [Deleted] in GenderCritical

I was never a TRA (was firmly "gender-skeptical" even before I became fully critical, but I did see them as a marginalized group that deserved help, even if I didn't understand them or agree with most of their arguments), but I remember finding that 41% statistic of trans youth having suicidal thoughts very alarming. It nearly convinced me that it was wrong not to let teenagers transition. Then I found out that medically transitioning didn't actually do much to improve rates of suicidal ideation, and I realized just how awful and manipulative it was that they drag out that statistic each time. I've always believed that one of the most abusive things you can do to someone that cares about you is to threaten suicide as leverage. And they've been doing this to us, nonstop.

Any arguments that you almost bought into, or did buy into until you were able to break down the lies?
