Are we nearing mass peak trans? Is the tide turning?
Posted March 5, 2024 by Sann in GenderCritical

I stopped paying close attention to GC issues around 2019. Checking back in now and starting to get back up to speed it feels like a lot of progress has been made in the past few years and that things are getting better. I’ve been listening to Queen’s Speech https://clivesimpson.substack.com/ a lot after getting a recommendation for it here and they seem to think that at least the UK is nearing peak trans.

Some instances:

  • Tavistock being ordered to close
  • KJK’s Party of Women created
  • There are many more detransitioners, some of whom are starting to seek damages for what happened to them
  • WPATH bleeding members and now the WPATH files being released
  • Many bans on TiMs in women’s sports
  • More documentaries, books, substacks, podcasts, articles, etc. published by GC women
  • Formerly almost fully captured mainstream publications like the NYT starting to give at least some time to GC views
  • For Women Scotland bringing a case to the supreme court that may result in a legal definition of the word woman
  • EDIT: The sitting social democratic Danish government has stated that there are only two sexes
  • Norway, Finland, Sweden, France and the U.K. and 10+ US states have restricted access to transgender medical intervention for minors
  • WHO transgender healthcare guidelines being watered down
  • More people winning legal victories (e.g. Maya Forstater, Jo Phoenix, Rachel Meade, James Esses , Shahrar Ali, etc.)
  • Public support for LGBTQ is declining (likely due to the TQ)

But those are just a few examples, there are many more and probably some major ones I am missing.

There’s probably a good case to be made that that things are getting worse instead of better (e.g. Twitter reinstating a deadnaming guideline), but overall it doesn’t feel as hopeless as it did 5 years ago. It also seems easier to talk to others about it generally as it is more commonly discussed. It will probably never go away entirely (maybe becoming something of a sidelined cult) but hopefully it will eventually fade. I would expect things to get better in some sectors and worse in others for a while and for progress to often be one step forward, two backwards.

What do you think? Do you feel like the tide is turning? Or are things getting worse? What examples do you think of (in either direction)?
