RaveUpdate on my HR harassment training
Posted April 1, 2024 by Feministunderyrbed in GenderCritical

I’d been dreading the training my HR department scheduled after sending out a list of protected characteristics that included “gender identity”, the first mention I’ve seen of it in our organization, but it wasn’t too bad. It focused almost entirely on real forms of discrimination: sex, race, age, disability, national origin. The brief mention of gender identity was more “here’s how not to get in trouble”, citing “repeated misgendering”. We don’t have any TiPs in our organization of a couple hundred people, but if we did I think using a name rather than a pronoun would be just fine. I was dreading a TiM coming in to tell us how skirt go spinny but there was no such thing. Just a nice middle-aged HR consultant lady who got through an amazing amount of information in just an hour, with room for discussion, with a very organized PowerPoint. That’s a relief.

Done. I’m a teacher. Hopefully they don’t release my name but 🤷🏽‍♀️ if they do I’ll stand by my words.

Even if you have single sex exemptions if you want your child's school to hang on to them it might be worth writing - explaining why your child would be reluctant to use the toilets otherwise.

I think, if it applies to anyone, that if when viewing schools as a prospective parent if you ruled a school out because it had single sex toilets, and if that limited your options significantly locally when picking a school that would also be worth mentioning.

Have you been doing university open days with your kids? Noticed the toilets? I'd mention that too.
